Quesnel, B.C. - Quesnel homeowners will be paying 3% more for municipal taxes this year as Quesnel Council  has given the first three readings to both the Financial Plan and Property Tax Rate bylaws for Budget 2008.

 

Quesnel Council  tried to keep tax increases in line with inflation. Business tax will rise 3% and major industry tax will increase 2 %.

 

The Quesnel budget deliberations ended with Council investing about $1.5 millio in  the community's infrastructure and equipment, enhanciong the recycling program, setting aside funds for the West Quesnel Land Stability Program, Quesnel Works:Capital Reinvestment Program and  various other reserve funds.
