Prince George, B.C. - A verbal exchange on 2nd Ave. last night resulted in one man being taken to Prince George Regional Hospital with knife wounds.

A 48 year old man in a vehicle waiting for the light to change made a comment to two men crossing the street. They returned the comments and the passenger from the vehicle jumped from the car to confront them.

A knife was produced after the passenger gained the upper hand. He was stabbed to the back of his ear and head.

Police say no action will be taken.

Huh???
Say what?
I echo that sentiment. If anyone in the RCMP is reading this let me make my feelings clear:
When you accept knifing a man to the head (from behind i suspect) as a non issue then YOU, the RCMP are becoming the problem. It doesnt matter that there was a fight going on, esp since it was already two to one. You are sending the message that it is ok to escalate to deadly force in a common brawl. It is little wonder that downtown is starting to sound like the wild west that never was. On the face of this admittedly sketchy report i think we need to reassess our ideas on how, exactly the rule of law should be maintained.
Now I may have gone off half cocked here. It may be that the victim was posing mortal danger to the two men and that the knife was necessary to preserve life and limb. Or maybe there are other factors which make 'no action' the right course. If this is so then the RCMP should make themselves clear, immediately after the incident (or at least now) so that people dont get the wrong idea.
You don't get a rating of fourth most dangerous city in Canada with an active anti-violence program. Most Prince George residents avoid the downtown area. Anyone who thinks diferent should go to the core at night alone!
Is it me or, are the downtown people getting more aggressive. you park your car and they start tapping on the windows to get your attention and bum a ride.
LMFAO
I know someone that was sitting there in his car minding his own business here in PG, when he was attacked by some lunatic. The victim managed to get hold of his bear spray and let er rip. The victim was locked up for the day and charged with assault with a weapon.
The victim being the person who was attacked for no reason.
"Police say no action will be taken."

Is this for real??? Knifing somebody doesn't lead to any charges???

That's it! From now on I shall avoid the downtown at all costs...no more breakfasts at the Ramada. Or lunches. Sorry. It's just too dangerous to take any more chances!

George Street looks scary. Dark, busted pavement, dirty, filthy, odd looking characters lurking forever at the intersections...and all that in plain sight of City Hall and the Mayor, City Manager and Council!

Nobody gives a s..t! Sorry, I am really ticked off!

Cheers!

It is time the police and the judges got control of the situations. Do they not know right wrong. I will give them the benifit of the doubt, mabey both parties were shitheads. If so tell us so we know the police are still on the right side..
No action was taken probably because the other two involved took off and the stabbing victim isn't talking.
I am with you diplomat, I will also be avoiding down town. I have kids with me when i drive and I dont want to put my kids in that danger or even witness it.
There's more to the story than is being reported here. Read the Citizen report for more info.

Eh? Have you been locked away in a time capsule? Ever since I have been in PG from 1987 it has always been a wild west slug fest, edged weapons extravaganza downtown... VLA, some parts of spruceland, etc....there is no boundary in pg where something like this has not happened in the past and will continue to happen. Its a zoo here.
Ya only in PG ...Dont call the police anymore. Deal with things old school way.
What a Sh...hole this city has turned into...Wineo country........what a draw card for visitors!
1987 heck you should have been hear in 68. It was free range time. Remember the barn in the Inn. I still got scars on my knuckles.
The police had speeding tickets to write for revenue......lets not waste their time with trivial crap like stabbings.....yeesh
I dont know where i have been other than PG since 1987. My views could be clouded by time or an increased interest in current affairs. I would have to look up the stats for the last 20 years. All the same, it IS looking like the wild west portrayed on TV, and it sucks.
Myabe someone could tell me if in 1987 we were one of the most crime ridden violent cities in Canada like we are this year?
I don't think much has changed. Why the big deal all of a sudden? Drinking and drugs spell violence, damage and crime. No problem adding more drinking establishments or wine and beer stores. But try to get the zoning changed to open up a business. Whole different ball game. Have a look at your city leaders and give them credit for our city. Comon now, everyone knows that when there are problems, you look to leadership to be accountable. Chester

If it is, then who is to blame?
Government, RCMP, Crown Prosecutors, Judges. Thats who, cause they allow it to happen, don't they.

I was born in PG in 1952!! It was a nice quiet place years ago!! Not now!! The RCMP are a waste of tax payers dollars!! They are rude and disrespectful, to say the least!! The word in my cab, and out on the street???, "Vigilante Justice" !!! I will add, Tim Horton's, won't be on their agenda!!

It is coming, it is only a matter of time!! people are fed up with all levels of government, which flows down to lousy police service, and a corrupt justice system!! And you wonder why they want to know where our guns are!!

WAKE UP CANADA, or at least in PRINCE GEORGE

seamutt, I remember the barn!! Would you like to have a scars war!!!LOL
