Prince George, B.C. – The Co-ordinator for the Prince George Air Quality Implementation Plan has been hired.
Daniela Fisher, an environmental and business lawyer practicing in Vancouver, has been selected for the post.
“She is formerly from Prince George and she and her husband wanted to come back to be closer to family” says Air Quality Implementation Committee Chair Mellissa Winfield-Lesk.
Fisher is listed as working with the law firm of Edwards, Kenny and Bray LLP Environmental Practice Group. The company’s website says its focus is on “developing practical and sustainable solutions to challenging environmental issues.”
That experience is invaluable says Winfield-Lesk “Daniela has the regulatory background in that she knows the Provincial and Federal legislation and she can articulate the issues so everyone can see it isn’t just black and white.”
The costs for Daniela Fisher’s position are being shared. The City of Prince George is paying $30,000, the Ministry of the Environment $20,000 and industry is paying the balance of $50,000. That $100 thousand dollar budget includes her salary and all office overhead. “She was willing to take a pay cut to return to Prince George” says Winfield-Lesk.
It is hoped Fisher will start her new position in early July.
