Major Bob Wilson, known more commonly as Capt Bob has been honored by the RCMP at their long service awards with special recognition.

Major Bob Wilson had served as chaplain for the RCMP in this region, but had also been a chaplain in the Ontario Provincial police.

“Capt Bob” came to Prince George in 1971 and served as the Chaplain of the Salvation Army until 1976. He then moved to Whitehorse, Williams Lake, Elliot Lake, and Yellowknife and then retired from the Salvation Army in 1993 in Prince Rupert.

"I was given the rank of Inspector with the OPP Major Bob says , I would ride around with the policeman trying to offer assistance or whatever the need was to the people they were dealing with."

Riding around with the OPP was an experimental thing, the first of its kind in that force.

In addition to being the Chaplain of the Salvation Army in Prince George, people may remember Capt Bob as the man who filled in on the Meisner Talk show at CKPG during 1975-76
