With a bid of almost $4.5 million, Green Roads Recycling Ltd of Fernie has been awarded a contract to resurface a section of Highway 97.

The work  will start in June and involves resurfacing 15 kilometres of Highway 97 between Salmon River Bridge and O'Dell Road, and 33.8 km between 2.3 km North of Tallus Road to Red Rocky Creek.

The project will include using a combination of hot-in-place asphalt recycling and admix.

My wife wants to know if they could do some potholes and ruts on the bypass?
Why are they using a combination of hot-in-place asphalt recycling and admix?

It seems to me that this process is the reason for a lot of the bad road situations. Is it just my memory going, or did they use different materials or processes 10-15 years ago.

Then they came out with this new more efficient way to get the roads redone. But if it doesnt last, are we any better off?

It seems to me, at least from appearance, that alberta has a different compound that lasts a lot longer. Can we not look into something like what they use.

Perhaps it is the same, perhaps I am not correct that we now use something different from what we used to, but the roads certainly seem to be getting worse and worse.
No, your memory is not going dan!
They used to use real paving not that long ago!
And you're right, the way they do it now is just a bandaid and is also one of the reasons our roads and highways are in such bad condition.
A cost saving measure that they are probably starting to regret given the damage and how much it is going to cost them now!
Just have a boo at what the repaving on Highway 16 west looks like. It hasn't even been a year yet and already it is cracking up. Oh well, it's just taxpayers money. Not very impressive at all.
