Construction of the link between the CN Centre and the Kin Centre is a little off schedule

The Manager of the Civic Facilities Division of the City’s Leisure Services Department, says the construction of the Kin Connector is “slightly behind schedule”.

In his report to Council Greg Anderson states the removal of “zonolite /asbestos” was an unexpected project that had to be done before the old ice plant could be demolished. There was also some extra excavation needed to remove some “unsuitable” foundation materials.

The good news, the new ice plant is working just fine, and should use less electricity than the two plants it has replaced. The new system also has a heat recovery system for snow melting.

Completion date for the connector is now the end of November.
