Prince George, B.C. – Workers at Wood Wheaton and P.G. Motors have a new contract.
About 80 mechanics service reps, parts department employees, all members of Steelworkers local 1-424 have ratified a new contract.
The deal gives the workers a $2500 signing bonus, and pay increases of 2% in the first and second years, and 3% in the third.
Local President Frank Everitt says they are very pleased with the contract “We are especially pleased to have negotiated and signed a deal before the other expires at the end of June.”

At least someone in the Steelworkers union is doing well.
Congratulations for reaching an agreement. Good on all of you. Chester
Does this mean the labour rates to repair my car will be over $100 dollars per hour PLUS shop supplies? Should help our economy move right along.
$2500 dollar signing bonus should be around $1600 bucks after Harper and Campbell help themselves. Hey. It costs money to run a province and a country. Doncha know?
50 to 75 cents per hour increase per year, not bad for 2008, i can remember negotiating 2 to 4 cents with the frugal mining industry back in the late fifties of course there were lots of workers at the gate then, i wonder where they are now with the forest industry in the crapper.at least the uswa has the sense to provide stability in these tough times of economic uncertainy, good work people.
Harbinger, do you mean to say there were never any taxes before Steven Harper and Gordon Campbell took offices? Who was I paying taxes to when the Fiberals ran Canada?
WTF would they get a signing bonus...have to bribe the unions now?!?!?
Geez! I shoulda said the Feds and Victoria will be taking those taxes, instead of Harper/Campbell. It don't take much to get someones knickers in a twist. Does it?
