Prince George, B.C. - The City of Prince George has declared a state of emergency for residents on Farrell Road. Although this is a precautionary measure, the water levels continue to rise on the Fraser River.

Public Information Officer, Don Schaffer states that “no homes are currently in danger, however the evacuation orders are being delivered due to concerns about residents losing access to their homes because of water spilling over the road surface.”

It is predicted that the 9.9- metre mark will be reached by this afternoon as the rain has already caused the river to reach the 9.5 - metre mark.  The peak in 2007 was 9.86 metres.

The public is urged to stay clear of the Fraser and Nechako rivers as the area is very dangerous and increased rainfall or high temperatures in the Upper Fraser watershed could result in increased flows.
