It wasn't dark yet? No Lights no Licence on the Road, good thing they didn't kill a child riding his Bike or run head on in to a car, then you have to fight ICBC, who pays! I'am all for it to get Dirt Bikes off the Roads.

People are getting so ignorant on here. Somebody lost their life here, and your asssuming (correct me if I'm wrong) that there were no lights or licences. Who cares if it was a child or a car, somebody, actually both people were hurt here. And since when are dirtbikes allowed on roads, unlesss they do pass inspection?
Better than being drunk on a snowmobile headed out over a frozen lake at night, I guess. Someone should go and open a store called, Common Sense-R- Us
The truth is alot of dirtbikers flagrantly disregard the law and operate their bikes (unless licensed) on asphalt roads until they get to their off road destination. It is very difficult for police to catch them since all they have to do to escape a ticket and a tow is zip off road into the bush.....Ultimately the law of averages caught up to two unfortunate people.
As they say, guns don't kill, people do.

So, dirt bikes don't kill, people do.

So what caused the people to have an accident? Was it preventable? If so, how do we prevent such accidents in the future?

I am trying to picture two people on a road traveling in opposite direction colliding. How? unless they were passing someone, one was driving on the wrong side of the road or they were both driving in the middle of the road, or maybe they were not on the travelled portion of the road at all, but in the ditch area on one side of the road.
Hopefully they were not playing chicken...
Now that is a possibility ..... a modern form of jousting ....
Sad.
I am not familiar with the road, nor the circumstances only what is reported here. My heart goes out to the families. As for those jumping to conclusions, could you at least wait for the investigators to finish their job before putting your mouth in gear?
Could have been a narrow road, blind corner, whack, no fun! Condolences to the families involved.

A little more IMO. Dirt bikers that (should I say travel public roads) to get to a riding area should show common courtesy and follow the rules of the road. There is no need to prove just how loud your bike is or how fast it will go. Ride to your riding area then go nuts.
Maybe the machines in question are not even 'dirt' bikes, They could be dual purpose machines, the riders may have been licensed, and they may have had their lights on. Why does everybody have to react to the initial story with their opinions? Why not wait and here the rest of the story?
