Williams Lake, B.C.- The Coroner’s inquest into the death of Donald Lewis has been told Lewis weighed 63.2 kgs, or 139 .3 pounds fully clothed. He was 5’4” tall, and was described by forensic Pathologist, Dr. McNaughton from Kamloops, as a man who was fit, but not a body builder.

When asked by Counsel for the family, Cameron Ward, if Lewis would have survived had there been immediate medical care after he had been shot by RCMP Constable Cole Brewer, Dr. McNaughton answered, “I think so.”  McNaughton testified that he believed Lewis had survived somewhere between 15 minutes to an hour.

Dr. McNaughton also testified Lewis’s body had numerous bruises and lacerations which could be consistent with being hit with a baton, a gun butt or a fist.

McNaughton says Lewis suffered a single gun shot wound to the left chest, and died   from a loss of blood.

The inquest into the RCMP shooting death of Donald Lewis continues.

Who would have guessed????
Funny how bullet holes cause that?

When will this horror show end? How many more young men are going to be killed, or should I say, "Murdered By Licience"?? How much longer before it is young women - or are they saved for something different? I have not the words to say how "heart, mind and body sick" all this makes me feel.
How much did Bruce Lee weigh?
Oh my Yama kind of a silly comparison don't ya think? I hardly doubt Mr. Lewis turned all Jackie Chan on this rookie cop.
Ms Macleod, that is a disgusting, juvenile comment. Just plain stupid.
Ah c'mon Tim have a heart. Ms. Macleod is just deeply saddened i'm sure with this topic as she should be. Death is a hard topic to try to understand at the easiest of explanations (cancer) but with this it is not.
Maybe Ms Macleod should learn how to deal with her emotions like a grown-up, and perhaps wait until all the evidence is in before labelling people as murderers or whatever else she was referring to.
How about unecessarily took someones life? Is that better? It's only words Tim. I don't take your guys' words too serious. Maybe off record I would.
You're certain that it was unnecessary? Why are they bothering with an inquiry then. Just hang the cop and be done with it.
Taking away his gun will suit me just fine.
Even if that means suspending him with pay for awhile...just get him out of there. I think he needs help unless he is a robot and the trip over to Bosnia didn't affect him any??? Think if it were you who was sent over and how you would be as a person?? Something worth checking into.
:)
Have a good night Tim. Think about if you are certain he had to die.
It also (guess I wasn't done yet) it also isn't about hanging a cop.(i'm not that nasty of a person) It's about getting the wrong guy for the job out!
The inquest isn't over. It's barely started and you've already determined that Brewer is the wrong guy for the job?
I'm NOT certain if buddy HAD to die. I wasn't there, I don't know what happened. That's what the inquest is for.

It must really suck to be a cop. An accusation is the same as being guilty... not even an accusation... Just the faint hint that you something MIGHT have erred is enough for people to demand your badge.
Not at all what I was thinking. If Mr. Lewis was in the wrong I still would want Constable Brewer on a long leave. NOtice how i said hand over the gun not badge. I don't think men/women who served across seas should come home and be police officers. I think they served their time and should get out for good. Find a weaponless job.

When unarmed people are being killed that's when I think the shooter is wrong for the job.
Constable Brewer could've taken note of the man and gone in with some backup like he did to recreate the event. Seemed to have guys come from all over to cover his back then. Why couldn't they cover his back when it was really necesarry? By the look of the picture Mr. Lewis had a lot of firewood stacked up and would probably take him a full days work to remove it if not more. Constable Brewer had plenty of time to respond with some help but no these young rookie cops feel they can handle things and enter a situation creating a death.
