The Appeals Court found that DWI suspects must blow in a cop's face to self-incriminate. We should make our robed savages wear clown suits.

Do you stand up for truth, justice, freedom and humanity? Why is it that third world countries, the poorest nations of our planet, are also the richest in natural resources?? This link is no theory! We must end the lies, spin doctoring and free ourselves from the ignorant bliss and apathetic lives we are living. Please watch this link. I encourage you to watch all 19 episodes when you have the time.

God bless you all!

I would love for the people in this town to figure out the difference between "merge" and "yield to traffic" signs. There is a difference. Merge means to adjust your speed accordingly to flow into the traffic (in a safe manner) and yield means you have to stop or slow down until it is safe to join the flow of traffic. Why do some of you stop in a merge lane? Learn the rules of the road! If any of you non-mergers ever had to drive in a larger city you would most likey cause an accident.
Hey PG girltoo, you're right. I would add: to those of you who are in the right hand lane approaching merging traffic; don't be afraid to let someone get ahead of you if they are trying to merge. We all have to share the road, you do not own that lane, I will not get there before you, you will be right behind me. My message of the day; COURTESY ON THE ROAD.
My rant; now that fuel is 1.33 to 1.40 per litre, the prepay at the pump is becoming a pain in the ^$$ because of the $125.00 maximum purchase. How many average pickups
have a fuel tank that holds 100 or more litres? Quite a few I bet. When I go to fill up, I have to go through the whole routine twice to get the tank full. Gas station owners: Let us pump up to $200.00 at a shot please.

Construction zones active 24 hours a day????

I do believe in the practice of obeying signs that request traffic to slow for construction projects.

Recently, there was a promotion to further encourage drivers to slow down in construction zones with promos regarding such things as... our dad works here.

The problem I have is .....why are these "slow to 50 km for construction" signs left active 24 hours a day when no construction is happening??

Once again, as we returned home to Prince George, we crossed the Simon Fraser Bridge at 50 Km per hour, with a string of vehicles on our tail. The time was 6 pm Thursday June 11th......no construction activity was happening.

Please cover the signs when no work is in process.
Canadian Federal Government about to impose on your privacy!

Did you know that the Canadian Federal Government is almost ready to impose a new law which is part of FINTRAC, which will require all Realtors in Canada to keep records and copies of clients' drivers licenses or passports? The scary part is I just heard about it and the government wants to slide this through before the Canadian public has a chance to scream over this infringement of privacy.

As I understand it the government by law (with jail and fines if not done by Realtors) will require Canadian Realtors to take and make copies of all buyers and sellers their drivers license and or passport prior to any Real Estate transaction and then must be keep on file with the Realtors broker for 7 years (What happened to the privacy laws just enacted?). The governments' argument is they are trying to stop money laundering by organized crime. Will that sounds honorable...Not!

Most real estate brokers and agents no longer handle cash for deposits. It is mostly cheques, certified or money orders. I had asked why it is Realtors and not Lawyers that have to do this. I guess the Lawyers got out of it because they promised not to handle more that $7000 in cash. Well we in most cases Realtors  do not handle cash as noted above at all.
What happens if someone breaks into an office or hacks a hard drive and now has access to all this personal info? Once the law passes good luck trying to change it after the fact.

The other underhanded part is the Canadian government has said nothing to the public about this and wants Realtors to pitch the bad news and make them out to be the bad guys.

I guess the CREA (Canadian Real Estate Association) is and has been fighting this law behind the seen for some time but this law is about to be passed some time in June 2008 (in about a week or so).
I cannot imagine as a Canadian citizen having copies of my license or passport in filing cabinets or hard drives throughout Canada as I buy and sell real estate in my lifetime. Can you?

My main point to this rant is to get anyone else that thinks this is wrong to call, email, and write his or her Member of Parliament (MP) Dick Harris, Jay Hill and have this stopped. Go to your local press, as I do not think they even know about this. The more of use that do will put pressure and law makers to stop and think (we hope).

PS - I notice the FINTRAC website is not even detailing what is happening as it makes it out to be ok.

If you liked the Illuminati series you might also enjoy Zeitgeist.

I'll relate to you something that may provide some sustenance for those views portrayed as the Devils Seal.

In particular Philip Morris, but also Kraft, part of the same conglomerate. This is directly from a high ranking marketer from that conglomerate.

When asked the question " What is the effect of the abolishment of tobacco advertising and the many class action lawsuits put forth to Philip Morris?"

Reply, " Merely a mild deterent, currently Philip Morris is promoting their brand in China. Success in China, will pay for any little legal action taken against Philip Morris"

Do the math, potential population of smokers times daily consumption. Divide by small lawsuit payouts, equals mega profits.

Hopefully peanut butter and salad dressing isn't addictive.
"Recently, there was a promotion to further encourage drivers to slow down in construction zones with promos regarding such things as... our dad works here."
This is the same company that had a big concrete pour a few days ago (picture in the citezen). About 6 or 7 men standing on top of forms about 16ft. off of the ground and not one was 'tied off'! Maybe they should care about falling as much as they care about getting hit by traffic!
I would like to know with all the mills that are being closed indefinatly, why the Employers are not forced into offering Severance packages to thoughs who want them, it is like they are holding the employees hostage, if people got their severance packages they might beable to move on with there lives, instead of living on ei. I know the Union contracts are all different as to how long you have to be off before getting your severance. But with the USW 2 years is a long time to wait, and it does not look like the industry is going to turn around before that time, so the Unions should be fighting for severance for those employees how want it. IMO

vulcan I agree. I think that any mill who plans on closing indefinatly should be accountable for those employees they employ. They know damn well that these employees can't sit around for 2 years waiting, so if we close indefinatly they will have to move and forfiet there severance, therefore they save millions of dollars. There needs to be a way for the employees to be protected from these big company scams.Jimmy P's going to get his severance, why can't the rest of his employees?
The "war on drugs" is such a waste of money, time and resources that even the cops are waking up and demanding change. This website is made up of cops from Canada, USA, Australia, UK and New Zealand. Think with logic, not emotion and opinion. Your morality is not relevant, only logic and reason count.

PG GIRL 2
Thanks for your post! I was all excited for Friday to rant about that but when I saw your post it made me feel better knowing I'm not the only one here who has the same problem!
I'd also like to note that VERY often I am getting tailgated by people when I'm going 30 km/h through school and playground zones. It really makes my day when these same folks pass me (while flipping me the bird) and talking on their cell phone.

Forget the speed traps at the top of Peden Hill, the cops could have a field day doing some strategic camp outs in some of our school and playground zones throughout the City. I say have a "zero tolerance day" and then we could all sit back and watch the folks whine and cry with their letters to the editor. Maybe the fines would eventually even help pay for some pothole repairs :)

Here we go again on driving habits. Last Friday I noticed most of the posts were on that subject. Talking about yielding and merging. Tell me what do these two have in common? And anyone that has two eyes can see that there are virtually no merge lanes in PG.

Now lets talk about rules of the road. Ther e are no rules of the road. There are only traffic laws. The only rule I know of is when I get behinde the wheel of my car is to think "Courtesy". Im dont need rules.

Cheers
"Bridge"

Getting behind the wheel and using "courtesy" is a good start, but opening up the eyes before you venture out is also a good one. Get ready for work at home, not on the road. There are many merge lanes in Prince George, and every one of them is long enough to merge properly. The problem, people DO NOT KNOW HOW TO MERGE, end of story!!!
vulcan, you have a good point. It is unbelievable that the shareholders would come first when it comes to profit. Any corporation before it sets up shop needs to have a plan for when it closes. And it should include those who will make the profit for them when the profits roll in.

Instead we have our Mare wanting to give tax breaks to build a new NCP plant. He hasnt even thought of what will actualy happen if a new plant is built. If it is rebuilt how many people will it employ? It certainly will not be 230 employees that the old plant had.

Both the Federal and Provincial Governments need to provide legislation to protect those whos life plans are at stake when a plant is closed. At the present the economy is their God just to create a profit.

Cheers
Has anyone seen the Disney World cartoon taking place on Ospica as the City fills in the pot holes? It took an entire week 12 pieces of equipment and ten emplyees to fill in a dozen pot holes.

Your tax dollars at work.

Cheers
taxinapothole.

Of course there are a lot of merge lanes in PG but you would need a shoe horn to merge with people like you in the outside lane who may have their eyes open but their brain is not in gear.

Cheers
Sigh... I only there was a website or something where cranky old podunks could go to prattle on endlessly about potholes, Jim Pattison, gas prices, speeding on the Hart, the Olympics............ oh... wait.....
post of the day award goes to...Death to Socialism!
I wonder who it was that authorized that huge open-pit mine at the corner of North Nechako and Foothills !!

I also wonder what they're going to do with that mega hole when the bottom reaches river level and starts to flood -- fill it with GARBAGE ??

Wouldn't surprise me anymore, the way this city allows things like paving plants and gravel mines to operate right in the middle of prime residential property !

On a more postive note, I would like to send kudos out to the Ladies Club of Aspen Grove Golf Course who raised more than $9300. for the Hospice House on Sunday, June 8th during their Leslie MacPherson Memorial golf tournament. It only goes to show how generous the people and businesses
of this town can be. Congrats girls!

For those of you who have nothing better to do than whine about the merge lanes for the umpteenth week in a row, get a life... I think we've heard enough already.
I heard a rumour that we're going to be getting a big-box outfitter's store. Something like Cabelas? Any of you heard the same or similar?
Yes Steelie we are getting a Wholesale Sports.
steeliepete

Yes we are getting the one from Manitoba.
I can't remember the name but i have ordered from them. The store will be huge as rumor has it.
I have been turning left at 16 and Ferry to go to the Stupidstore a lot. Every once in a while I get stuck behind some ninny who won't turn left onto Ferry. They wait for the next light with the arrow. One day I got out of my truck and walked up to the vehicle in front of me and said to the driver, " You know, it's not against the law to turn left on a green light". She replied she was afraid. Good reply. What arrow? I didn't even see the Indian.
Anyone got any cool summer vacay plans? I'm stuck here all summer so I need to live vicariously through others!
Re: "the apology". Nothing will change. You'll see.
Here is a driver that wins the "You're a frikken Bonehead" Award.

I was driving along Ospika following another car the other morning, winding through the S curves beside the Smurf apartments.
The driver in front of me decided she should come to an abrupt stop in the middle of the road to let some jaywalker cross the road in front of her.

This is not the first I have had stupid people perform this stupid action in front of me.

Then there are the people that stop on the hwy, to let people that are yielding, out onto the hwy in front of them.

What about those riding bikes up to crosswalks. They get off their bikes, the traffic stops, then they ride their bikes across the crosswalk.
They are crosswalks people. When your riding a bike you must follow the rules of the road.

More of you out there need to start using your signals, they are there for a reason.

Residential streets are not dragstrips
SLOW DOWN. You with the black chevytruck and the N on the tailgate up in College heights, you are on the list.

Stop driving around residential areas with your car stereos pounding, you mindless idiots.

More later.

Quit riding your GD bikes on the sidewalks.
I have a few rants for the day. The first is the merging in this town! People just don't get the concept, and I guess it will never happen as long as there are merge lanes! What I hate is the car in front of you approaching the merge lane either hits the brakes, causing a near miss fender bender, or the ones trying to merge into traffic almost run into the side of you when you are in the right hand lane!! It's not a difficult concept, people. There are merge lanes that are a little trickier than others, (eg: the one off Southridge to Hwy. 16) but it's still the same idea, adjust your rate of speed to flow into the traffic. If you see a car approaching in the right hand lane towards you while you are merging it doesn't mean to suddenly floor it so you can beat them. You can easily merge in behind them..... My other rant is the lack of bike lanes in this town, and the way people in vehicles treat bike riders. I have been almost hit by vehicles on my bike more times than I care to count and I do obey the rules of the road!! Slow down people and keep an eye out, get off your cell phones and put down that cup of Timmies.
I see our mayor is taking his son to China with him..
Wonder who is paying that bill?
re the merge lanes - the same goes to those who are speeding wayyyyy too fast, in the right hand lane, and not allowing the person trying to merge get in front of them. I agree with you about the idiots who seem to think a merge lane is a yield - but there are just as many idiots who won't let them in. Easily merging in behind someone is not usually possible when the cars speeding and tailgating and seem to have issues with someone moving in front of them. People here have issues... I have never, ever witnessed more tailgating, lack of signaling, speeding, being cut off, people not checking their blind spots, running red lights, simple lack of common courtesy and bird flipping and foul language as I have here in Prince George - what is it about Prince George that has people so aggravated? I have lived in a few different cities between here and Alberta and this is the worst I have seen, at least in my experience.

Those of you wanting to save money on fuel check these out !!..far cooler than a moped and look like a lot of fun!

Can be registered 'highway legal' in Canada for about $200 bucks.
To the guy in the red Vette doin 60 in the 80 while along side another bone head doin 60 in the 80 up in Parkridge heights.
Uhmmmm WAKE THE HELL UP. 20 vehicles behind you with places to be buddy.

Your right Singlemom, very inconsiderate people with drivers licenses here in PG.
I don't know what it is either.
Something in the water, the air?
My rant is we are owned by the hands of a few! Debt, debt and more debt. Our resources are no longer in the hands of its people but sold at our expense! Those who are elected to serve the public interest have gone deaf and legislation, trade agreements and contracts protect private shareholders NOT the people who work (read slave) for these companies. It is not enough to elect another politician. We must ensure accountability! How do we do that you ask? We get legislation enacted that will REQUIRE the elected official to be accountable to their constituents. This goes beyond the current recall. The next thing we can do is make certain that all companies that operate in BC and Canada are 100% Canadian owned and operated and force them to be co-ops where the employees are shareholders. For example, Canfor doesn't rebuild NCP so: our government gives the former employees equal shares in the industry via a grant thereby securing the jobs there. I believe that co-ops are the only way to secure our economic futures. We also should tax and/or penalize companies who use government grants and then a short time later claim there is no way they can do business and they take the taxpayer's dollars, pull up stakes and leave its employees high and dry.
Government money should be granted to INDIVIDUALS not major corporations, imo.

pisspulper the series shows how deep the control by these few men really is. We all need to be mindful of legislation that is passed. This situation is being deliberately executed. I agree they are playing both sides FOR PROFIT. The orchestrators don't care about any of us, only the bottom line.

We are so being taken for a ride.
Well, if you had a business and needed to close down due to current economic conditions, how would be able to pay the severance of hundreds of employees?
If you are an employee, then you have taken the safe road through life.
It is the business that has supported you through your working career that took all the risks.
If you want to have some of the profit, start your own business.
If you chose to be an employee, then you have no say in how or when a business site is closed.
It is like those union members in oshawa that are insisting that GM maintain an operation for a product they cannot sell.
Get off your high over paid horse and start your own business or get another job.
Booo hoo, I have never been able to earn more than 36k a year yet you are the one in dire straights because you did not do proper financial management and prepare for the worst when times were good. If I had earned your income, I would be very well off with a substantial nest egg. Spoiled union brats!
Yes I know the pay and benefits are great, that is why GM cannot afford to keep a plant open for a product they cannot sell.
Show me a business that has hundreds of empoyees that cant afford to give an employee a severence package and I'll show you an employer that has mismanaged his business.

Corporations like GM dont care about a business plan. The hand writing was on the wall that the truck and SUV demand could not continue. Yet they kept up the production of these vehicles. They lived for the good times and knew the crunch would come only profit then was their motivation.

Its called planning. Corporatioins dont care about tomorrow or what happens to their employees if they have to close a plant. Toyota, Honda the small car builders are making a killing. Why couldnt GM get a share of that market. They have the share holder looking over their shoulder and are afraid to invest.

It is unfortunate that so many are blinded by how the system actually works. It easy to say well go into business yourself. There are some of us who are smarter and dont need that challenge we like to smell the roses and enjoy our family life.

We live in a very wealthy beautifull country and there is enough for all of us to go around. But for some that isnt enough they think they can have it all and the hell with the rest.

Cheers
Loki
They manage to pay the shareholders, they can pay the severance they owe to their employees.
Employees are the people that made the business what it was. They deserve to be treated fairly. The GM thing in Ontario is stupid I agree, you don't pay people to build things that don't sell. The UAW is way out of line with their demands. Having said that it is pretty dirty pool to sign an agreement with the UAW for lower wages and benefits to keep the place running and then to close it down.

High overpaid horse???

Excuse me, but what union people get paid has been negotiated between the company and the employees and they both have agreed that the wages and benefits are a fair trade for the skills the employees bring to the workplace. Did you see any union people with guns to the heads of the companies while they were NEGOTIATING their CONTRACT

Boo Hoo you have never been able to earn more than 36K a year. Your own decisions kept you at that level.
Maybe you should have researched jobs and wages before you stepped into the type of work you do.

"Spoiled union brats".
No need to hate others because of your jealousy.

Your another that simply doesn't get it.
RCMP cruisers should obey the same speed limits that we are obliged to adhere to!

What kind of example do the police give when they come down the Hart Highway and go 75 km/h in a 60 km/h zone?

It is a bad habit that they speed almost everywhere they go.

I know that they are allowed to go faster when they have their sirens on, but other than that they have no business speeding.

Bang on the money lostfaith!

Those that haven't figured out how the system really works have been spoon fed the political and media fed propaganda.

Wake up and take the blinders off everyone -- divide and conquer keeps the spotlight off the actual problems and then we are only putting bandages on symptoms, thereby neglecting the real bleeder(s).
I agree that few people in PG know how to merge ... too many for my liking yield instead and are potential causers of accidents.

I also find we have too few merge lanes and generally are faced with yields instead.

The other interesting thing is that for some reason or other most drivers do not stop at red lights when doing a right turn and notice that there is no one in front of them and that there is no one coming from their left.

They do not seem to know that one is supposed to stop and only proceed with the right turn when the lanes to be used are clear.
I think the whole world should thank the good people of Ireland for voting down the evil EU Constitution that would have robbed the grass roots republican democracy from Europe in favor of a bureaucratic appointed administration (run by the banksters)that would have killed the sovereign independence of nations like Ireland.

Ireland was able to do this because they have a strong constitution of their own that is protected by a single transferable ballot system of electing their representatives ensuring no political party can force their will on the people with out the people having a say in the matter.

The voting power of Ireland stopped what the combined armies of the allies nearly failed to do in WW2 after the death of 60 million people, and for that the people of Ireland are owed not only our gratitude but the gratitude of future generations as well IMO.
I think the Hart is bad mostly because there are no merge lanes. From the John Hart north the only merge lanes are for Northwood Pulpmill road, and Austin road... everywhere else is a land mine of people that speed to cut you off and then slam on their brakes to stop for one of the many side roads along the Hart where merge lanes are non existent.
