Prince George, B.C. - The PGX , which has been named Provincial Fair for 2008 by the Minister of Agriculture and Lands for placing first in the large fair category for the “Agritourism at it’s Finest” exhibit in 2007, will officially begin Thursday August 7. To get things started with a real party atmosphere,  where birthday cake will be served in Heritage Lane to celebrate the BC 150.

Terri McConnachie, Exhibition Manager, is excited about the new entertainment this year which includes fire juggling, the world’s largest balloon show, stilt walkers, comedians and musicians.   “One of the biggest additions to the PGX is the brand new midway West Coast Amusements. The rides are bigger and better, and we have more children’s activities.”

The major gate prize this year includes a trip for two to a resort in Mexico including airfare from Vancouver.

Events planned for this year’s fair include, a classic car parade, Vintage Bike show, fireworks, Volunteer Firefighters games, PGARA mini stocks, PGX Idol, and tribute bands Abba and Fleetwood Mac.

More detailed schedules will be available closer to the actual event.

After attending last years exhibition, I vowed to never attend again. Big city prices for a small town fair. Can't afford it anway, what with gas prices and huge city tax increases. The well is going dry my friends.
The PGX has been the same for 30 years, how come the city charges so much for the PGX and 4-H to be there? It's a great event and people like Nancy Loreth have put there lives into that fair. If the X could get a break on using the grounds they could make it a fabulous event, instead it will always be the same. Wise up Colin and give them a break!
So for BC day we ARE celebrating our 150yrs as a colony? Ok..............
But BC became a province in 1871 so isn't that our 137th birthday?? Just confused as to why we would celebrate being a colony (when we're not) on BC Day!
Yeah, I get the historical bit of how we became a province but it doesn't make sense celebrating 150yrs of something we're not.

As for PGX I haven't been able to take my family as the price is too much for us. Great "community" event.
The price is ridiculous - parking prices just add to it - kids have to pay too much to ride - the entertainment was not worth the cost - the average family of 4 or 5 cannot afford to go - quite frankly, I'd rather take the kids camping or to the lake for the day.

Entering on the very last day, with only one hour before the fair was to close for the weekend, was charged full price - what is up with that?
