Wow, it's July!   Since it is Friday, that means we are opening the gates one more time for the Friday Free For All.

No doubt, there will be lots of comments about the carbon tax, and the rising price of  fuels.

You know the rules:

  • Keep it clean
  • Keep it legal
  • No bullying other posters

I wonder about the old CN bridge? Can that still be raised for large ships that go through? I think that would be a neat thing to see if we still had large ships using the river.

Maybe we could tug boat up some large barges with excavators on them, from the Simon Fraser bridge construction site, then we could see the CN bridge in action, and maybe get some pictures of it in the raised position.... In the mean time the barge could make itself useful and clean out some of the channel up river, so we don't have another ice jam anytime soon? Maybe we could make it a tourist event and sell tickets to fund the idea? ;-)....
Being July it makes one wonder about River Road? The city no longer have the excuse of Winton Global workers getting in the way... so it makes one wonder why the whole area is left in the state of a disaster?

Its like that guy that never mows his lawn and as the walls in his home fall down, he just has a home one room smaller... but in this case its the city of PG and the unkempt lawn (Cottenwood) and walls that fell down (river road) are out in the open for all to judge.

Can the city of PG be effective in simple maintenance issues much less future vision?

Time Will Tell
"Taxman" The Beatles penned by George Harrison says it all.
Do you think that we will ever educate Prince George drivers that "Merge" does not mean stop before entering the Merge lane???
and conversely that "Yield" means stop and look before entering??
Here we go again, the Friday traffic bitchfest. Btw, "Yield" means concede the right of way, you are not required to stop unless necessary to provide right of way.
My beef this week is with those pothole filling crews. What a nifty machine they have, and it makes what appears to be a good patch (let's wait for the first frost)
But why don't they have a sweeper following up later, picking up all that pea gravel? Having the road surface covered in thousands of tiny marbles has got to be creating a potentially dangerous condition for those on two wheels. And before you safety nazis start preaching to me about how the bikers should maybe go slower, think about what it might be like when you are riding in the fog/rain/dark and remember that there is less room for error when on two wheels compared to four.
metalman.
Does anyone know why all the streetscaping trees on Third Avenue, east of Victoria (planted at considerable cost a few years ago) are dead or dying?

They look terrible.
The weather guy lied. It was said July would be great once we get through June. We have had a thunder, lightning and rain every day of July so far.
Been wantin to do this economic comparision for a long time....

Frederick the environmental guy / vs. / Bubba the redneck.

Frederick owns a fuel sippin compact with a roof rack for a canoe on top and a rack on the back for his mountain bike.

Bubba owns a fuel pig 4x4 with a rack for his 2 snowmobiles in the winter and his 2 ATV's in the summer. He tows another fuel pig Big Block jet boat behind.

On a typical weekend Frederick spends about $30.00 on fuel. If he has bad luck he might spend another $50.00 on a lost paddle and possibly a flat tire on his bike. He spends another $25.00 on bottled water and granola snacks.

On a typical weekend Bubba spends $400.00 on fuel. If he has bad luck he might spend another another $850.00 on lost boat gear, flat trailer tire, bent axle on ATV, ripped off transducer on boat, lost river anchor and smashed fishing gear. he spend another $150.00 on beer and peperoni snacks.

Fredericks total investment to support his weekend activity is $33000.00.

Bubbas total investment in his weekend activity is $138,000.00.

To support his fun Frederick spent
approx $495.00 on sales tax.

Bubba spent approx $20,700.00 on sales tax.

Frederick spent $15.00 on fuel tax, while Bubba spent about $200.00.

QUESTION: Who is better for the economy.. LOL
"giterdun" interesting comparison.
If frederick and bubba have the same income then the question of who is contributing more is likely a moot point as frederick can and likely will spend his money on other things, and therefore contribute just as much. If frederick spent his excess income on his kids education or started a small business he could in fact generate much more economic benefit and perhaps more employment.

I know these "bubba" people still exist but there is going to be less of them.
Bubba needs a very good job to support a 1400.00 weekend outing and perhaps can only afford a couple of these a year.
You are right in that as long as bubba can afford this he is indeed contributing to the economy.

There are a lot more fredericks than bubbas and income levels and cost of living is the biggest reason.

Bubba might want to consider what he should be doing with some of his money before he has no more.
"Yield" means stop and look before entering??

You are right with the other one, but this is not quite right. You must yield the right of way to those in the lane of traffic you are entering. You do not have to stop if you can see that there is no one coming or they are far enough back up the road so that you have enough opportunity to enter the lane and accelerate to the going speed without the other driver having to slow down.

If one had to stop, they would put up a stop sign, not a yield sign.

Which bings me to my peeve about PG drivers.

They must all come from Montreal since they think that stop signs are actually yield signs. Seeing someone actually stop, when making a right hand turn at a stop sign or a red light is extremely rare. No matter what movement one wants to make at a stop sign and traffic light controlled intersection you MUST stop at the sign and a red light, check to make traffic is clear and then proceed.
With that comparison we also see what is wrong with the GNP method of calculating economic activity.

Besides, Bubba is more likely going to have a job at a manufacturing plant where he earns so much that the palnt will likely have to close and open up operations offshore, thus leaving Bubba, who most likely bought much of the "stuff" on credit holding the bag, with companies repossessing his worldly goods. Also, the money he spent was being bought at a high interest rate and that money went to the banks in some other part of the country and not into the local economy.

Speaking about local economy ... the large investemnt of Bubbas only gained dollars for the sales and service sector locally. The large chunch of money went to the parts of Canada and the rest of the world that manufacture those items.
CAN PEOPLE IN THIS CITY PLEASE STOP THROWING THEIR CIGARETTE BUTTS OUT THEIR WINDOWS AND DOWN THE STORM DRAINS...thank you
anyone see the "patch job" they did on 5th right in front of Subaru???
Not yet! I have been avoiding 5th Avenue and 10th Avenue for quite some time as I do not want to ruin my vehicle which cost a pile of dough that I didn't just shake off a money tree.

The last time I turned from Central Street unto 5th I thought all the wheels on my vehicle would get torn off at the same time.

Both of these so-called avenues are in my opinion a woeful disgrace and hopefully tourists don't go there and get the impression that nobody gives a hoot here in Prince George.

Patches. Does the P in PG stand for patches?

Premier Gordon Campbell plans to tax and spend $1.8 billion, and Stephane Dion $15 billion, over the next three to four years to reduce global warming. Yet they both seem to have neglected a couple of key questions: has the Earth been warming and if it has, is it the result of rising man-made carbon dioxide (CO2) levels?

It's of great interest to some people that the two global temperature data sets used by the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) - one from NASA and the other from the UK government - all show a cooling trend since 2002.

All the while, man-made CO2 emissions have risen.

Maybe, just maybe, man-made CO2 has nothing to do with climate change.

Maureen:

You may be right. But you may be wrong. Understand that in this situation you are playing the same role as big tobacco in the 70s and 80s with when they said "maybe, just maybe, smoking doesnt cause cancer."

Many times a clear scientific cause and effect cannot be established. Sometimes a leap of faith is required. Most people agree that releasing carbon that has been stored in the earth over the last billion years or so within a period of less than 150 years has to do something, and its probably not good.

Personally I think your time would be better spent focusing on government waste than carbon tax. Get rid of the senate. Reduce compensation paid to politicians. But thats just my opinion.
giterdun, you made my day. I just sat back an laughed.

I think the notion that frederick would start a small business is wrong. I would think he has more sence as suggested that he would spend more time with his family which would be more important then making money.

On the other hand bubba has been sucked in by commercialism. He sees those big trucks climbing mountain, snowmobiles in prestine alpine areas flying through the powder snow, power boats with a horse tail wake on a mountain lake and then there is Stockwell Day on a seado wind in his hair on Lake Okanagan .

All our shakers and movers tell us to look ahead and see the future. Frederick knows better he takes it one day at a time. He has a technical or proffesstial back ground and he knows that tomorrow will be another challenge for him but will not be difficult to handle.

Bubba finds his challenge mastering his toys. Someone needt to tell him about say the Caladonia Ramblers I think they are still around. He can share a ride with some freinds and take a day hike up Mount Hammil. The Table River area has some overnight hikes. You can sit by a campfire at night tell lies and sing songs. And you will see more on an hours hike then you will Wizzing over the snow scard to death of a slide for a hundreds kms.

Cheers

Well, I hope people remember the global warming scare 10 years from now when the alarmists are looking to redistribute billions of tax dollars to combat the next ice age.

That's just the temperature trend.
Maureen, makes a good point. And its not like big tobacco or some of the scientific data we are given by big oil.

The scientific groups that she mentions have done many studies that link climate change as a natural occurence over thousnds of years by sampling ice cores and rock formations .
Our oceans produce far more Co2 then all combined humane activity.

I believe in recycle and reuse and protecting the our enviroment and its not about climate change its about sh**ing in our own nest and destroying the world we live in.

Cheers
CTF

Sure, maybe your right. Personally I dont want to bet the future of the planet and its inhabitants on that, but maybe your more of a gambler than me.

Maybe its a temperature trend and maybe its not. Maybe the carbon with magnify the impact of the warming or the cooling. Maybe the carbon release will cause extreme global cooling.

The fact I will go back to again and again is that releasing a billion years worth of stored carbon in what is an instant to the planet and the enviroment has to put something out of whack. I think that most anyone with any backgroud would agree to that statement. But maybe the CTF knows something the rest of us dont. I hope your right and the earth will recover remarkably quickly from mans pollution and such. Even though logic and evidence certainly suggests otherwise.
On a completely frivolous note! Tim Hortons has the RCMP officers......but Starbucks at Pine Centre, has all the firefighters!!!! I'm a Starbucks girl myself...gee I wonder why? On a serious note....they work damn hard when they are needed - so they're allowed a Starbucks coffee in their "down" time.
I am guilty of this too, but I do find it amusing that we will spend $5 on a cup of coffee, $2 on 500ml of water then b**tch and moan over the price of gas.
I liked Giterduns Bubba story.

With the rising cost of fuel along with everything else and no one being able to afford to carry on with their lifestyle.
How long until people start losing their jobs because no one is shopping for their products?
I don't need life jackets for my boat any more, or those fancy wheels for my car, etc, etc, etc.
To the CTF: Have you ever considered that reducing the burning of fossil fuels is a good idea all by itself because the burning of fossil fuels results not only in the release of green house gases but also a whole number of environmental nasties which are very detrimental to human health?

Mercury is one of them! The burning of coal releases mercury vapors into the air which ends up in the air we breathe, the water we drink and the soil that we grow our food in.

The CTF should be on board of reduction of carbon emissions from fossil fuels just for that reason alone, in my opinion.

Additionally, all fossil fuels are a non renewable finite resource and sooner or later the world supplies will have been used up, no matter how much we question whether the earth is warming or cooling.

Does super polluting Alberta have a branch of the CTF?

I like to see my tax dollars go to the gradual implementation of clean energy sources, such as solar, wind, tidal and wave power.

The sooner the better.

You know lost faith that is whole idea being put forward by the do gooders. They want us to substantially drop our standard of living to a 3rd world level as if somehow everyone not bathing and crapping in holes in the ground will cure our planet.I mean these are the same people that want to ban cattle because of their flatulence. I'm still trying to visualize Gordo's vision of the north operating with no diesel fuel. I guess I didn't know that planes, drilling rigs and heavy trucks and equipment can operate on solar panels and windmills.
Regarding the roads. What is up with the paving planners in this city? I also avoid 5th Ave. because I can't replace my vehicle. I notice that streets that have Gov't buildings on them are getting paved while other streets that are in horrid shape are getting patched. Take Massey for example. Tim Hortons is there and that's about it. Not in bad shape before and now it has a beautifully paved section. Westwood on the other side on TH is a disaster. Cars could disappear in the crevices. That doesn't even bring me to 1st and 5th Aves. Both are extremely busy and are both more holes that pavement. Sometimes I wonder why the powers that be stop using their brains once they finally are in a position to be useful.
You guys still dont get what ctf is telling us.

All three levels of government have gotten onto the band wagon and are taxing the hell out of us to reduce global warming.. Sure we contribute to global warming but are not the only factor. We contribute one third towrds global warming the rest is a natural Phenomena that has been going on for centuries

This is not a ctf idea. Global warming has been studied by many universities and UBC is one of them. Dr Michael Pidwiny has written an extensive paper on globnal warming. Prehistoric data has been measured by using treecores, sediment cores, ice cores and coral cores.

But yhere I am just pissing up wind with all the smart people that post on this site who couldnt care less abour scientific data.

In regards to the green taxation our current governments have imposed on its citizens,
IT IS NOTHING MORE THAN AN EXCUSE TO REACH INTO OUR WALLETS AGAIN!
These funds are not earmarked for any green projects, they will not be used to to deveolp alternative energy or transportation, will not be used to encourage mass transit in any city outside the lower mainland.
We need to stand up to our government which is supposed to be "by the people for the people".
How is this done, simple, get out and vote.
Vote for someone new, vote green party or even marijuana party as long as it is not one of the big 3 (NDP, Liberal, Conservative)
Kick the current government out with a resounding "you suck" vote.
Put the fear of the citizenry into our government!
You have to wonder were some people get the stats that they use , of course always to make a point even though it is wrong. Recently it was suggested that we live in the same kind of climate as Denmark.
OH
Denmark average temp. +1, Jan.-1, Feb -1
By contrast... Canada, Montreal, which has warmer average, temps than Prince George
Montreal average temp. Jan -10 , Feb -9, march -3, Dec. -7
In Denmark the only months that the temperature dips below 0 , Jan and Feb , now why do you suppose we use more fuel then they do could it be if we didnt we would freeze our butts off.
Thats about the same as comparing California to BC for weather.
Statistics are just that, you can twist them the way you want to suit you best
Logic would dictate that the upswing in bullying of little kids correlates to the absence of the old Popeye cartoons. To wit. Instead of having the little tyke go running to his parents, counselor, teacher, or anyone else in that realm, why not instill the option of having the kid defend himself by fighting back? The bully won't like that nor will he expect it. In other words don't let the whiny kid get the bully in "trouble" with an authority and have the bully being only told that what he does is "socially unacceptable, not nice, not fair and just plain bad" Thereby laying a guilt trip on him and thereby making him circumvent authority next time. The bully might give the victim two black eyes, while the bully gets one for his trouble. All schools seem to do with students these days is make them non-violent, non sexist environmentalists. Boy! That builds character to cvarry7 through life. Don't it? Sheesh!
Did anyone happen to see Buffy Ste.Marie last night at the Civic center? Oh my God, she was amazing!!!! What a wonderful performance by a gal with a strong social conscience and a commitment to Canada.

Prince George and roads. A flipping traffic light every quarter mile on the highways going through town. Rough roads, take some bureaucracy budget and spend it on the roads instead of on dithering. Uyter did you say: "paving planners? hahahahahahaha, what planning? Do they actually plan? It looks to me, as a motorist, that the pothole crews fix a few here, fix a few there, drive right over rough sections to get to other rough sections again, what planning?
metalman.
Hey harbinger,
The whole plan with our schools is to produce neutered metro sexual (non sexual) complacent sheeple that will dutifully pay all taxes, abide by every stupid law created by even more stupid politicians with no real job.
All towards filling the pockets of the few have's at the expense of the many.
If you want to know what a sheeple is, see an out of context reference to an unpopular has been concert, twice.
I KICK PUPPIES.
Loki, wouldn't sheeple be more likely to attend popular events, like say Canada Day at the park?
Sorry DtS,
you are correct.
I just had to comment on the double entry method
He just really, really likes Buffy.

Trudy said: "Recently it was suggested that we live in the same kind of climate as Denmark."

The way to compare one year to another and one community to another as far as how much is heating or cooling might be required is to lookat at heating and cooling degree deays.

So, looking at heating degree days (HDD) is going to be the most reasonable in most cases we are interested in until one hits places such as the Okanagan and hot humid areas to the east of us.

PG's HDD in celsius is in the order of 6,000. Vancouver's is around 3,000. Edmonton around 7,000, Kelowna around 1,200; Osoyoos around 1,500.

So, that means that to heat a house to the same heat using the same energy source and source cost, it would cost tiwce as much in PG as in Vancouver and 4 times as much as in Osoyoos. Of course, we have to keep in mind thsat you might want ot cool your palce in Ossoyoos during the summer.

Want to compare it to Denmark? Of course that depend on which part of Denmark. But here are the figures given on the linked site:

Denmark - about 3,000+ which is about the average for all of Europe and similar to the lower mainland of BC

Portugal - about 1,200 which is about the same as Kelowna

Finland - 5,600 which is closest to PG

Europe http://www.swivel.com/data_sets/spreadsheet/1006352

Okanagan: http://www.winebc.com/wineregions-okvalley.php

Vancouver http://www.terasengas.com/documents/Degree_Day_Information.xls

western Canada map: http://www.canadiangeographic.ca/Magazine/jf03/alacarte_west.html

Eastern Canada: http://www.canadiangeographic.ca/Magazine/jf03/alacarte_east.html

Montreal about 4,000

So ... is Denmark representative for 3/4 of the population of BC? .. You bet. I think that the average per dwelling unit heating requirement in all of BC is about the same as the average heating requirement per dwelling unit in all of Denmark. (one would haver to correct for the variation in average dwelling unit size in the two regions)

In fact, if one were to do a housing unit.HDD calculation, I suspect that Denmark would have a higher total energy requirement for heating than BC since there is a relatively large population living in hotter interior climates compared to the smaller population of people in the cold northern areas.

But, we could call BC to Denmark comparison as relatively similar while there will be less requirement to heat in the warmest BC location versus the warmest Danish location and and more requirement when comparing the coldest BC location to the coldest Danish location.
Starbucks in the USA are in the process of closing down 600 coffee houses. Mainly because of lack of customer support and falling revenues.

Canada will be next. People are starting to by gas instead of coffee.
Buffy is getting old, eh? But then again, so are we. That's life.
Global warming well folks I hope you enjoy getting your pockets fleeced. CO2 is not a pollutant. Money wasted chasing it is taking money away from real environmental causes. Do you trust government? Everyone must know that government looks to see which way the wind is blowing and that is the way they go wanting to pick up votes. Global warming is the fad of this decade. Now that our government is on the global warming kick, should that not make everyone just a little bit suspicious at least.
The earth has had 10 times the CO2 in the past than it has now, and it did not turn into a Venus. The global warming advocates always leave out an interesting trait about increases in CO2. Any if any effect of increases in CO2 is logarithmic, the more it increases the less effect it has. Check out some of these websites and links.

Be happy that Al Gore is making millions perpetuating this global warming myth.

The BC Gov't should require senior citizens to complete and pass a typical Drivers' Licensing test on an annual basis as provided free of cost by the Province.

If the carbon tax is revenue neutral, why is it needed at all? Couldn't the government just shift the income from the tax cuts directly to a carbon tax fund and leave the price of gas alone. Perhaps the truth lies in where the tax breaks are being directed. Corporate taxation is also being given a tax break. The means that once again, citizens will pay more while corporations pay less. What a brilliant scheme to support their corporate friends. I guess that is why they like to advertise that the carbon tax is really revenue neutral. I'm telling you the guys in the spin doctoring office are the best, most efficient employees in the government. They can screw the public by giving even more tax breaks to corporations while giving the appearance of being green supporters. Too bad these spin doctors could not be employed to work for the average B.C. citizen instead of Gordo's corporate buddies.
If we take the Frederick and Bubba scenerio and compare it to the average family (which could be a microcosm for an economy), which scenerio would be better for the overall financial security of the household?

Would it be Bubba, his seemingly carefree spending habits, debt up to the gills and making minimum payments forever, or Frederick and his living within his means, putting money aside in investments and/or paying down debt and being more realistic about what he can afford to do? Who would be better off if say they lost their job? What about if mortgage rates climbed to say 12%? What if the larger economy went into the tank? Would the country be better off with 30 million Bubba's or 30 milion Frederick's?
On a happier note...I have whined enough so this weekend I am having a couple of wine coolers! Enjoy the sunshine all :)

Hahaha....ok...*groaner*...lol
"Global warming well folks I hope you enjoy getting your pockets fleeced. CO2 is not a pollutant"

Okay, so if you are okay with taxing pollutants, then let's tax the pollutants of gasoline combustion ......

;-)
Or, we could look at the other side of the coin. If you think that increasing the price of gasoline is bad for the economy let's have a little talk with Alberta and Newfoundland and spread the wealth around the rest of Canada and reduce the price to 60 cents per litre ... still more than Venuzuela ........

So, there would be extra money floating around, energy dependent businesses would flock to Canada and we would need more people from overseas ...

Then eagleone would be very unhappy because we would not be able to produce babies fast enough and have to import all sorts of non-canadians that do not have blue eyes.
"Then eagleone would be very unhappy because we would not be able to produce babies fast enough and have to import all sorts of non-canadians that do not have blue eyes"

LMAO :)
So ... I see that the breaking news on Saturday is that Cozzetto commissioned an external review of the UNBC operations and finances, that it did not look to hot for the future if it would continue that way (it seems to me that part hit the news some time ago), he may have tried to deal with it, the Board had no confidence (did noit see eye to eye with him) in his methods, and essentially agreed that the best for the UNBC would be to part ways. In standard parlance I understand that to mean mean he was "fired". It is just that one does not use that term in such cases.

So it looks like Cozzetto may have been shown a wonderful building, but for some reason an external review was commissioned with this firm http://www.leadingbydesign.net/index.htmlthat showed there were a few cracks in the foundation that may not have been evident before, or may actually have been evident but nothing was done about it until the new boy on the block noticed it and needed to get an independent consultant to agree.

So, a bit more light shed on this, but the Board ain't talkin' and we likely will not hear them say anything of significance.

I just hope someone can fix it fast because the UNBC has been doing wonderful so far in the general public's eye and the Board has to make sure that it stays that way while they fix the foundation.

Who on the Board has any expertise in running a University that is hitting a few potholes that should have been fixed earlier?
Little Israel is surrounded by murderers and anti-semites, and it must be defended. Muslims are bound by Koran ordenance and Hadith records of their phony "prophet's" activities. See how the "prophet" is said to have ordered brutal murders for blasphemy. Polls in the Muslim tyrannies report massive support for the murder of blasphemers, and demand that foreign Muslims act out these murder fatwahs (orders on ulama - scholar - authority). This is from the Bukhari Hadith. Sunna (emulation) obligations bind Muslims to murder Jews, Christians, Hindus and Atheists (like me). Read the following and then save your life from Muslim aggression, aided and abetted by the Saudi owned Bush moronocracy.

Volume 5, Book 59, Number 369:
Narrated Jabir bin 'Abdullah:

Allah's Apostle said, "Who is willing to kill Ka'b bin Al-Ashraf who has hurt Allah and His Apostle?" Thereupon Muhammad bin Maslama got up saying, "O Allah's Apostle! Would you like that I kill him?" The Prophet said, "Yes," Muhammad bin Maslama said, "Then allow me to say a (false) thing (i.e. to deceive Kab). "The Prophet said, "You may say it." Then Muhammad bin

Maslama went to Kab and said, "That man (i.e. Muhammad demands Sadaqa (i.e. Zakat) from us, and he has troubled us, and I have come to borrow something from you." On that, Kab said, "By Allah, you will get tired of him!" Muhammad bin Maslama said, "Now as we have followed him, we do not want to leave him unless and until we see how his end is going to be. Now we want you to lend us a camel load or two of food." (Some difference between narrators about a camel load or two.) Kab said, "Yes, (I will lend you), but you should mortgage something to me." Muhammad bin Mas-lama and his companion said, "What do you want?" Ka'b replied, "Mortgage your women to me."

They said, "How can we mortgage our women to you and you are the most handsome of the 'Arabs?"

Ka'b said, "Then mortgage your sons to me." They said, "How can we mortgage our sons to you?

Later they would be abused by the people's saying that so-and-so has been mortgaged for a camel load of food. That would cause us great disgrace, but we will mortgage our arms to you."

Muhammad bin Maslama and his companion promised Kab that Muhammad would return to him. He came to Kab at night along with Kab's foster brother, Abu Na'ila. Kab invited them to come into his fort, and then he went down to them. His wife asked him, "Where are you going at this time?"

Kab replied, "None but Muhammad bin Maslama and my (foster) brother Abu Na'ila have come." His wife said, "I hear a voice as if dropping blood is from him, Ka'b said. "They are none but my brother Muhammad bin Maslama and my foster brother Abu Naila. A generous man should respond to a call at night even if invited to be killed." Muhammad bin Maslama went with two men. (Some narrators mention the men as 'Abu bin Jabr. Al Harith bin Aus and Abbad bin Bishr). So Muhammad bin Maslama went in together with two men, and sail to them, "When Ka'b comes, I will touch his hair and smell it, and when you see that I have got hold of his head, strip him. I will let you smell his head." Kab bin Al-Ashraf came down to them wrapped in his clothes, and diffusing perfume. Muhammad bin Maslama said. " have never smelt a better scent than this. Ka'b replied.

"I have got the best 'Arab women who know how to use the high class of perfume." Muhammad bin Maslama requested Ka'b "Will you allow me to smell your head?" Ka'b said, "Yes." Muhammad smelt it and made his companions smell it as well. Then he requested Ka'b again, "Will you let me (smell your head)?" Ka'b said, "Yes." When Muhammad got a strong hold of him, he said (to his companions), "Get at him!" So they killed him and went to the Prophet and informed him. (Abu Rafi) was killed after Ka'b bin Al-Ashraf."
