McBride, B.C. - The Province has given the Village of McBride $1.1 million dollars to upgrade local roads in the community and Valemount will get $600 thousand.

The money was pledged by Transportation Minister Kevin Falcon  in the two communities.

The money goes to offset the effects of an increase in heavy truck traffic as a result of the harvest of the Mountain Pine Beetle.

The money is part of a $10 million dollar one time program to smaller communities to upgrade the roads in those communities.

That's the big announcement?
Mackenzies roads are bad also.

I had the same reaction as you did RUEZ ....
$1.7 million won't go that far with the tarmac being oil base
In keeping with the flavour of the day-- what kind of a carbon footprint was left after flying Falcon up here for this photo op?
Hope he didn't get caught in another traffic jam like in Vancouver last weekend.

Hmm, I may be incorrect, and please advise if the number is wrong, but I had heard it cost near a mil to pave a mile.
