I see in the newspaper and the free press there is an article in there about a fellow , on his motorcycle, who one day decided he would tempt fate by making an illegal u-turn in "Great Wall" area. It turned out, probably not to be the smartest move he has ever made, his sorry a^& was hit by a vehicle following behind him. Yes, and received a broken leg, nice smarts medal. Now the article is using this "smart" fellows move as a poster reason why we need a left turn in this area. Well I guess if stupidity and disregard for traffic laws gets it done.....
I wonder if we are supposed to feel sorry for the guy. Self inflicted injury as far as I am concerned.
But I still think the business owners should talk with Mr Major...he got a left turn when no one else can.....
In this day and age you would think MOT could time the lights down the so called Bypass. But no,stop at every one of them burn up your brakes and burn up your fuel. If the city and the Liberals were so concerned about pollution they would time the lights properly so you would have a straight run down even at 50kph.
Acrider its the lie to their madness. I agree 100% especially that stupid light at 22nd (the worst in all of Northern BC IMO) that is triggered the split second a person drives up to it and changes almost instantaneously (very very dangerous (for rear-enders)especially on a corner)... for every single car that pulls up on 22nd to stop all the traffic on the bi-pass, and yet its not even a major through road?

For the life of me if its a bi-pass, then why can't they set the lights up so it works like one with sensors to sense the large tractors (like the Nechako bridge), and delay lights a few seconds so the small cars 1/60th the weight can hold for a few seconds while the highway traffic moves by safely. I find it very frustrating.

Another light is the Highway 16 & 97 at night. Why is the light default green for traffic leaving the downtown when there is not likely a car an hour coming from the downtown at night? Meanwhile all the traffic that comes from the west and turns onto the bi-pass has to stop for the light. Why can't the East-north bound turn lane be the default (thats where the traffic comes from?) and if someone wants to go straight west from the downtown they could stop for the light? It makes no sense from a traffic planning perspective. It costs industry huge dollars because of bureaucratic stupidity.

IMO its our tax dollars at work paying for stupid people to tax us to save energy to pay their wages while the simplest things are not even addressed that cost nothing.

This is a long time pet peeve of mine.
And why are all the lights set differently. For example why does the 5th, and 15th hold for a slight delay and yet 22nd does not? Yet 5th and 15th handle 10 times as much traffic on the same stretch of road? It makes one wonder if the guy that programs these lights lives in the Crystal Gardens town house complex or is he really that dumb?

This is an excellent German documentary on their perspective on 9/11 and the war in Afghanistan. Its the most logical one I've seen yet. I’ve heard it all before, but there sure is a lot of obvious unanswered questions they highlight.

You can call me a wing nut all you want, but I think the guy in this link raises some good points worthy of consideration. IMO a geo-political parallel is the sack of Rome in 410 by Alaric and his army of Goths. The 1.2 million Romans were subdued when Alaric, rather than besiege Rome a second time, destroying the granaries at Portus (Roman port supplying the city) bring home to the Romans the realization of starvation and thus surrender of the city for the first time in 800 years. That’s the kind of strategy Lyndon LaRouche claims is at play today for a total war by the underground British (banker backed) Empire against the world as a whole to implement the NWO.

The JFK Assassination and 9/11: the Designated Suspects in Both Cases
by Peter Dale Scott

------ In short there is a substratum of covert operations underlying both events that antedates the presidencies in which they occurred. Thus one should not expect the cover-up of 9/11 in the G.W. Bush administration to dissipate simply because the Democrats take over the White House, just as the Johnson administration’s cover-up of the Kennedy assassination did not dissipate with the election of Richard Nixon.39

This is said not out of despair, but out of belief in the ultimate resilience and good sense of the American people. The analysis in this book is that America’s involvement in two disastrous wars – first Vietnam and later Iraq – was not an outcome of the people’s will, but rather in large part because of deep events that were used to manipulate that will. Thus this analysis is not an attack on America, but on that manipulative mindset that has twice succeeded in maneuvering America into war.

This dominant mindset is not restricted to intelligence agencies, though it is largely rooted there. Over time it has spread into other parts of government, and has also corrupted large sections of the media and even universities. That the mindset is widespread does not however make it either omnipotent or invincible. -------

It used to bother me when people would complain about the downtown. I thought that it wasn't so bad- a few bums hanging around and that was it. We went downtown on Sunday afternoon and my attitude changed! What a scuzzy place. There had to have been at least 75 low lifes spread out over a 2 block area. Drinking, shooting up- myou name it. Not one cop in site! Garbage all over the place. The number of closed businesses, burnt up buildings, boarded up buildings makes the downtown a slum. I feel sorry for any businesses down there. There is no way I would walk down George Street, even on a Sunday afternoon.
The sad part is that there isn't too much that can be done. Maybe load up the bums and haul them out of town and hope they don't find there way back.

Sorry not sure how that (double post) happened.
The downtown is a huge disgrace. It's frightening down there, and getting worse. Although the beggars, druggies and drunks are not limiting themselves to the downtown core anymore...they are spilling over to other parts of the city. We spent a ton of money putting in the nice park benches and we put paving stones down and re-did the sidewalks, how wonderful. Now all the useless losers have a place to sit and drink from the bottle. I am quite certain if I sat down on the lawn of City Hall and opened a bottle of wine...I just might get arrested.
LOL...A blonde pushes her BMW into a gas station. She tells the mechanic it died. He works on it a few minutes and gets it idling smoothly.
She says,"What's the story?"
He replies,"Just crap in the carburetor."
She asks,"How often do I have to do that?"

Have a great weekend.. git.

I rear-ended a car this morning, on my way to the Pine Centre Mall. So there we were, standing along side the road, steam rolling from my punctured radiator, and slowly the other driver got out of his car. And you know how sometimes you just get sooo-stressed-out that real-life stuff seems to get really funny?

Yeah, well, I could NOT believe it ... The other driver was a DWARF, only about 3 feet tall! So, he storms over to my car, looks up at me, and loudly proclaims, 'I AM NOT HAPPY!'

So, I looked down at him and said, 'Okay, well, which one are you then?'

And THAT'S when the fight started.
Eagleone that German documentary first showed on April fools.
Interesting news yesterday. Out of about 40 mountain areas that snowmobilers visit in the winter out east, 35 have been declared out of bounds now.

It was done to protect the mountain caribou that die every summer from every predator in the book. The government has been under lots of pressure by US money to not resist the environmental cancer that is running amuck in the Victoria lobby these days.

Those sad lobbyists claim stopping people from riding on the snow will stop the summer killing of caribou. We tried, but you can't fight that kind of logic. It's all based on faith, not science.

Beating up people that go out in the winter in northern BC is a win-win for those that live in Victoria. The tea granny's are real happy, but the caribou are still getting killed every summer. The caribou will all be gone if someone doesn't take it seriously soon.

I don't ride in the summer, but I wonder how long before the quads are restricted to only rural roads, they already are already getting their thrills by out riding and taunting the cops.

The more laws there are the more there is to be broken it seems. Soon everyone that goes outdoors will be "known to police".

I just heard on cbc radio that BC MISTAKENLY sent by mail (with proper addresses) numerous $100 carbon rebate cheques to people all over Saskatchewan.

They are cashing them, as "free money".

Like watching something you own burn and have no way to stop it, this is kind of a funny but sad thing.
Yamadoodle, what news from where?
YamaDooPolCat, thanks for the website with the German video. Here is some reading for rainy evenings:

Churchill, Hitler, And The Unnecessary War, by Patrick J. Buchanan.

Subtitle: How Britain Lost Its Empire and the West Lost the World.

Just released, it is a huge bestseller already. ISBN 978-0307-40515-9

We all know about Hitler, but this is a real eye opener as far as the much adored Winston is concerned.

(Not released on April Fool's Day, BTW).
Wow lostfaith. That documentary is terrible and I dont understand how the BC gov turns a blind eye. The revenue generated from sportsfishing and the salmon run must be greater than the money generated from fish farms. They appear to be very lean operations with minimal employees and non particularily capital intensive.

I will be on the Kitimat River next week and it will be bitter sweet as I think it is time for us sportsfishermen to realize that it will all be over soon. We will have to chase salmon to Russia.

BOYCOTT FARMED FISH
Maybe part of the problem is that fish farms fall under federal juristiction? I know my saltwater licence is from the DFO and not the BC ministry. Can anyone expand on that?
Couple of days ago I was coming down Peden Hill just after 5 pm...noticed an older van on the outside lane had stalled and a woman was trying to push it out of the lane.

A guy at the Esso ducked through traffic and started to help push it out of the way. Then an old beater of a car pulls up behind the van and out jumps this fella...mohawk hair - dyed a purdy turquoise..."oh oh" thinks me. And he started pushing the van with the first guy. That'll teach me to jump to conclusions.

Kudos guys - it was nice to see a random act of kindness in the making.
Yama that sounds horrible. You know if all you leave in the bush are your tracks, then have at it.

I hunt caribou and although there population seems to be in decline, I never think that snowmobilers are responsible for it. Industry maybe, but not recreational.
Notice whenever you can't do what ever the h@#* you want, when you want, the other guy is a first class a##h$#@? Then there is the blame game (not a part of the Olympics yet, but give it time) in which what "I" do is perfect and rightous and good but "you" screw everything up?

Ever notice this Yamadoopolcat?

In this day and age you would think MOT could time the lights down the so called Bypass.

I am probably talking to myself but here is a 101 on traffic signals

Sometimes I wonder where the people of Prince George got their drivers Licence. The Lights on any of the provincial hightwas are set up to handle traffic by counters not by time. So that when traffic starts to stragle they will cut off and change direction of traffic flow.

They used to be set six seconds for each vehicle as it passes over the counter (loop)in the pavement just before the wide white line at the intersection and this is where the front wheel of your vehicle should be when you stop . Depending on the traffic flow and the intersection there is however a maximum time set. Say at six seconds per vehicle after ten cars pass over for a total of one minute the counter cuts off the green light turns to amber and stops the traffic .

Now here is where the problems start with PG drivers that think there is a slow and and a fast lane. So all those in the outside lane screw up the traffic flow. When they should be on the iside lane to give a more even distribution of traffic flow.

The other problem is at City hall where they think it is their right to say how any traffic signals and where they should be located. The BYpass shouldnt have any traffic signals at all except at the intersection of #97 and highway #16. And an interchange coulb built at Massey Drive and the Bypass.

It is very amusing to listen to people whine about poor trffic flow in PG andd rush hours. If you think you have to many delays here check the Highway Traffic Cams on the internet on some of the streets in the Fraser Valley.

And yes I know about traffic flow. I worked on traffic signal forthe the Ministry of Highways for a number of years in PG and the lower mainland.

I almost forgot to remind those that have a problem with merge lanes. There are none in PG. Merge lanes are used where traffic from a local speed of 60 kms has to merge onto a main highway where the speed is around 90 or more kms. so when the guy ahead of you stops and tries to enter moving traffic thats all in the outside lane some shouldnt even be there smile and say I have lots of time I can waite. If you cant get out of bed a few minutes earlier and you will have the time.

cheers
Well the sun is shining...so this is a good thing today.
And something just came to mind..lil off topic but i have not seen one Monarch butterfly?
Bridge-So there are no merge lanes in PG ehh? So what should we do at those signs that say MERGE around town?
I don't care if you know what your talking about or not, if the @%$@# sign say merge, than that is what I'll do, and I'll continue to curse all those people who don't do what the sign says. I bet you're the kind of person who stops just to piss people off!?!
"...Now here is where the problems start with PG drivers that think there is a slow and a fast lane."

There are indeed fast lanes and slow lanes on a four lane highway (like the Hart). The right hand lane is for those who actually prefer to travel at the SLOW legal speed limit (70km/h).

This will cause them to be tailgated only moderately and they usually will not be given an outstretched middle finger salute.

The left hand lane has NO speed limit. It is called the Indy 500 lane. It is for those who habitually harass those who happen to be in it for whatever reason.

Since the possibility of encountering a (legitimate) police car is virtually zero they fearlessly and gladly take on the rule of traffic enforcers and do whatever they feel like doing...sometimes with catastrophical results!

Welcome to our *lawful* society! Full of laws to be broken and rarely ever enforced!

"And something just came to mind..lil off topic but i have not seen one Monarch butterfly?"

Saw a few in my garden last week ... even got a photo of one sitting on a blossom.
They are around.
Hd, you are a hoot! Thank you, thank you, that made my day, belly laugh for sure.
"which one are you?" roflmao.
metalman.
getajob just when I thought there was an end to blonde jokes.....lol.
I've noticed the decline in butterflies also. We planted a butterfly garden a few years ago but took a long time to spring up. In early summer 2004 Kevin and I took Leah to Wilkins Park for his visit with her and at the shore of the river were literally too many butterflies to count. Was beautiful and seemed like a scene out of a movie. Maybe the flood destroyed the numbers???? Is that possible?

Have a nice sunny friday all :)
sorry that was giterdun with blonde joke....ugh.
I have a question and I am hoping someone can answer it as no one has been able to yet. It is not intended to be racist in anyway, it's a question and that's it! I am wondering when the native bands sign any treaty agreement or any agreement with a company that results in each band member receiving money - if the band member is on any government assistance program, do they still get to collect that income(ex: welfare)on top of the received money? I am wondering this because I have been told that the McLeod Lake band members will each be receiving $60,000. for signing an agreement with the mine that is supposed to be going in (I do not know if this is fact or not - but am also asking because of the treaty money that some bands are receiving as well when they sign a treaty agreement).
Looking forward to reading an answer.
No merge lanes in PG, Bridge?

What about the highway intersection at Mr. PG-- Unless it's gone now, for years there was a merge lane from the Pine Center Mall onto southbound 97, and then moments later from there onto westbound 16. If I recall, many people suddenly stopped at the end (or start) of both ramps and forced me to slam on my brakes and relinquish all momentum.

But it's no wonder some people seem afraid to merge in PG. The drivers in PG who are already on the outside lane of the highway never seem to be willing to accommodate mergers, asserting their right of way almost deliberately. In larger cities where merging is a way of life, those already on the highway naturally assist mergers by making room, or else they change into the next lane over so they don't have to sacrifice their pace).
The exit from the Pine Centre Mall is not a merge lane- there is a yield sign there. The 97/16 one is a merge, yet people insist on stopping until there is no traffic coming! MERGE!!
Also, 5th Ave onto 97 north, people stop there until the lights change, then drive about 1.2 mile down the MERGE lane with no idea what they just did.

"We planted a butterfly garden a few years ago but took a long time to spring up"

thankx..just curious...where do i buy the Butterfly seeds?

;-)
Just wondering why the government would short list the Independent Power Producer Licence optainees and not make the list public like was stated before, and for that matter not let the actual producers know ...now til October? It seems like the same ols political bs that always happens, can't government be striaght forward, honest and upfront for once?
Hi red2b--
Thanks for the correction. It's been a long time.
Sounds like another blonde joke hey getajob? lol...
Re: merge lanes;

I have never had to come close to stopping at the merge spots in town because I have this little ability called "Anticipation" which allows me to speed up or slow down depending on the upcoming flow of traffic and find an appropriate spot to get in.

Many PG drivers do not look farther than 5 feet in front of them which is why many get into trouble.
I agree that the downtown core has lost all of its character and beauty. One sad reality is that it has been deteriorating for approximately 30 years now. I was born and raised in this town and I remember when Harold Moffat was Mayor… we had the same issues with the downtown core. There has been talk of its revitalization for at least 30 years. Since then, every successive city council has had good intentions but has never been able to solve this issue. This has to be one of the most critically important concerns to PG, and it is vital to the healthy existence of our downtown.

I’ll give some much needed credit to the people involved with the recent attempts at revitalizing the downtown core. Their efforts deserve mentioning and the areas they concentrated on look much better. However that attempt came at a price. The businesses lost their canopies which protected shoppers from rain, sleet, or hail etc…

Just prior to the dismantling of the canopies I visited Edmonton and did some shopping downtown where they also had no canopies. To say it was an unpleasant experience is being kind. We ultimately got soaked. After we drove to our hotel and changes our clothes, we headed straight for the mall.

Those canopies were a bit of a “saving grace” for the downtown area. Not anymore.

Yes the job of revitalizing the downtown was a huge undertaking and I applaud the people involved. But it also didn’t solve the problem of “street people”. I’m sorry but to solve this issue they need to be relocated to, let’s say, the light industrial area, or somewhere OUT (and away from) the downtown core.

Okay I can hear you screaming at me now… YES, these street people also deserve to be a part of our community. I understand that. But it’s also stalled any hopes of the downtown core becoming a diversified shopping core. When was the last time you saw senior citizens walking the downtown sidewalks, laughing, window shopping, and just enjoying all that the downtown core should offer? I haven’t seen that… well, in about 30 years.

I can tell you this though. The downtown core does have two fulltime RCMP officers who walk around and control the “street people”. It’s worked but only to a degree because, you can’t actually get rid of the homeless. They tend to congregate near the facilities that are so vital to their survival. The homeless shelter and some drop-in centres are located in the downtown core. So even if you spent 100 million dollars on revitalizing it they would still be there as long as the services that they need continue to be located within the downtown core.

When I got married a few years back we chose a hotel that was NOT located right in the heart of the downtown core for our guests to stay at. (Usually you get a “break” if you pre-book a bunch of rooms.) But we did not want our families, who are now all in their 70’s and 80’s, to have to contend with street people. We wanted them to be safe and we we’re worried for them. Sad but true!

I love PG, I really do. But there’s a lot more involved with revitalizing our downtown core than just beautifying it. We need to allow for a big change in its social structure as well, and we need to do that with compassion for all of the people who call the downtown core home.

LIFE itself is just one huge "merge lane"... doesn't matter what color or size you might happen to be.

Peace.... :-)

Seem to be a problem with double (or even triple) postings today. I think this website is having some issues with their database.

For the record... I only posted my comment ONCE.

Have a GREAT day!
Just a test, if i post twice will it come up 6 times?

Guess not have a good weekend folks.
If you think a 1 ton deisel pickup is a race car & making it as loud as possible is somehow "cool", do the world a favor & kill yourself immediately.
Justathought,

Common sense would say that any monies received would be considered windfall and each member receives the same amount regardless of whether they are on SA or not.

By the way, to point out something with your question and to counter your question. Why did you say Welfare as if it was the only type of income found on reserve? Are there not people on that same said reserve who draw a regular paycheck, live on some sort of disability, old age pension, CPP, or EI?

Did anyone question whether or not Steven Truscott was on welfare when he received his $6 million dollar payout the other day? How about Maher Arar? What about the payments made to the Asian community for that stupid head tax levied against them years ago?
Just wondering why the government would short list the Independent Power Producer Licence optainees and not make the list public like was stated before, and for that matter not let the actual producers know ...now til October? It seems like the same ols political bs that always happens, can't government be striaght forward, honest and upfront for once?
Surely you jest blueboy!
A government that is up front and honest?
Never heard of such a thing!
That would be like saying a Timmy donut was baked fresh!

Here's where to read the whole report on what mountain areas are left to go to in BC. You have to know the areas being discussd as to how they fit together and the size of an area. Some areas in the souther interior have virtually nothing left. The closer the mountain area is to the Holier Than Thou envirnomental clusters, the bigger the impact on winter recreation. Except there is no restrictions on the Holier Than Thou people to sneak up on the caribou and scare the animals clear into the next mountain range!

First time I've tried to post a web address, you'll have to copy and paste - hope this is OK.

It was said:

"I don't ride in the summer, but I wonder how long before the quads are restricted to only rural roads, they already are already getting their thrills by out riding and taunting the cops"

Not soon enough. If you think driving those loud machines that tear up the top soil doesn't affect the environment, then I have a bridge for you.

RE: Howard_B_Stern

I suggested welfare because it is a program that I have personally used and I know that if I received any money above and over I had to report it and it was taken off of my checks - regardless of what the amount was. I also could have used EI I guess because the same goes for that system. I have never received the benefit of a "windfall" when I was on either program, but I feel assured that it would also be classified as an income and would have affected my checks.

I do not feel that CPP, Disability or Old Age Pension fall under the same category of Welfare or EI, but that may be because I have not been on those programs and have little knowledge about them. And as for people who draw a regular paycheck, well in fairness, you can't put them in this question because the question is asking about people who are on government programs, and working people are in general not.

I wasn't questioning whether each member receives equal amount - common sense states they would. I was wondering because $60,000 is more then I personally make in 2/3 years and I am not sure how I feel about people getting government assistance who have just received such a large amount of money, I am feeling like it is a little bit of discrimination - regardless of race or nationality. And I would ask about any of the names that you suggested also the same question - "should our taxes be going to people on a social assistance programs who have came into a large amount of money?"

In this case I asked about the natives as I live close to McLeod Lake and I've heard some talk around town.
Also just to let you know because you seem to be going in the direction that some people take instantly - I DO have a native background, (although I do not have a treaty number nor do I live on a reserve, not that that matters to the question) so this is in no way a racist question.

I feel the system seems to have different rules for everyone and I feel that this is part of the reason for the increase of racism that seems to be developing across Canada - which I blame on the government and not on a nationality.

I am trying to acquire knowledge and not sit back and do a slow burn about how unfair the system is - it is so I can form a educated opinion and not develop an unfair racist one!

Thank you for your response.
LIFE itself is just one huge "merge lane"... doesn't matter what color or size you might happen to be.

You have said it all in one sentence. Be nice if others felt the same way when it comes to a bit of tolerence.

Cheers

I've found that the double postings come from when you post a comment and then hit the back button after you post it. That seems to resend the information to the site again and it reposts your message. I'm going to do exactly that, here.

No comment about anything from me today. The whole world is going to hell, but I'm OK. Have a nice day.
Who the heck painted the road lines up Foothills? They may have just left the paint running and made a solid strip all the way up. I could have had my wife hanging off the bumper of my truck with a paint brush and a can of paint and she could have done a better job. Or visa versa, she could have driven and I could have hung off the back of the bumper.
That's my weakness heidi 1555 .... ;-)

Gets me into trouble every now and then ... :-(
Howard b etc.
Stephen Truscott was not on welfare.
