After consumer complaints about the costs of running an iPhone, Rogers Wireless is cutting the price of the smartphone's data plan to $30 a month for a limited time. Much of the protest came from the online petition ruinediphone.com which received thousands of hits and it seems like Rogers took notice. They have offered 3 yr contracts 6gb for $30 or 36000 web pages and 157,000 emails for customers that sign up by Aug 31.

While that may seem like a lot, it is interesting to point out that Canada is the only country without an unlimited plan. Rumor has it that apple is not pleased about this but I find it hard to believe they did not know about Rogers plans before they announced the iPhone was coming to Canada.

The much-anticipated iPhone goes on sale today at select Rogers Plus stores in Toronto, Montreal, Ottawa, Halifax, Calgary and Vancouver. At a cost of $199. Prince George residents should take note, we do not have 3g here so you will not find the data speeds of those in Vancouver. It should still be a popular device.

There is concern in Japan about how the iPhone is going to sell since the phone has a lot of features they have been enjoying for years already on their phone. Japan is set to launch the same day as here but for some odd reason it is not going to be available when the doors open but will start selling at noon to the general public. It remains to be seen how the iPhone does there.

But all in all it promises to be a big day for Steve Jobs and Apple as the iPhone is set to launch in many countries including Australia and India. So I can see long lineups all over the world for the iPhone.

If I don't have an iPhone will I die? How can I not live a full life without one?
A buddy of mine informs me that his two kids are screaming for iPhones now!
He said they figure they cannot live without one and if they don't get one,all their friends will laugh at them!
Obviously Harbinger,you WILL die!
I guess he told his kids he would think about it...
So I gave him MY opinion...he may not be my friend anymore!
Man alive....and to think my first cell phone was as big as my home phone with less bells and whistles...I thought I was doing pretty good today with my LG Rumor, its got enough gadgets on it I'm sure there'll still be things I don't use when my 3 years is up...
