Prince George, B.C. – Only 24 hours later gas prices are up again.

Although you may be able to find the odd spot in Prince George that is still offering a “bargain” of 138.7 per litre for gas, most gas stations are up to 145.9.

Considering the price of cruse is way down..but I see by the sign they managed to get the point 9 on the end again.
Oh I bet the Liberals are so happy that they jumped on their Carbon Tax band wagon. Kaaaachingggg!!!
Call me old fashioned, but I still like to be kissed when I get screwed.
$100 cheque just return to Gordo with another price hike!! What a joke and a slap in the face of every British Columbians!!

I heard this morning on the radio, about how the cost of puplic transit has jumped with the high fuel prices. Buses passes will be next to go up !..tick, tick, tick..
This tax grab is just continuing to rape us of our hard earned money. Disgusting & disappointing, especially from our governments who are responsible. The governments share of this gas revenue has already increased substantially on it's own. Why the need to stick us with yet another tax? Chester
Oil companies will charge what ever they like. How about $2.50 p/l? We'll have to pay, there is no way out. You can't shop around for the best price because they're all in it together, governments and oil companies, collusion comes to mind. They're just a bunch of crooks.
I wonder if the government has invested in oil stocks ???? If so I'd say that's double dipping. After all, making a bundle on the stocks and collecting more tax at the pumps, a win win situation I'd say.
I'm not like most people. I am actually happy to see the price of gas go up. Every time the price goes up, the outcry for alternative fuel sources gets louder, especially the demand for electric vehicles. If the price of gas stays low, then people will be content to drive their polluting SUV's to the corner store and back. I say bring on even higher prices! I want my electric vehicle!
Hey, why complain about the price of gas. If you drive you have to pay. Supply and Demand....

As for the $100 check, invest. Take it and buy small cap oil or mining; pool your checks with friends in order to have enough to buy a Lot of Imperial Oil.

If you want to complain about the price of oil my suggestion is sell your auto, buy a bike and a bus pass. This whole story line about "we in the North" need our vehicles is a load. When the boys and girls headed north for the gold...did they just load up the Ford and go! What makes us so special?
I drive, I don't complain about the price of gas..if you're going to play you gotta pay...what's going to happen when gas hits 2 bucks/liter by the end of the year?
And your electric vehicle would get it's power from where? Coal fired power plants, natural gas fired power plants, run of the river power plants? I doubt it'll be from wind farms or solar panels. And if we all jump on board the electric car band wagon where will we dispose of our batteries, and how will we acquire those precious metals for circuitry and batteries? Open pit mines crawling with diesel spewing heavy equipment??? While electric cars are an alternative, they have drawbacks, there is always a trade-off.
The government should demand higher mileage from the auto industry. Our cars today are much heavier than need be and need fuel to move the mass. The internal combustion engine has been around a long time and is very refined, and in a light vehicle a small IC engine is very clean burning and efficient.
Do governments want us using less fuel?
You think the price of gas is high these days?
Wait till Iran's nuclear facilities get wiped out.
That will make the price go high, high, high, higher.....
and will cause a major desaster for the western economy.
It's coming, guys, be prepared!
Econ and Jerod, do you two not think about the people who are old, sick and poor already?? This is not JUST ABOUT YOU!! But that is the problem in the world today, no one gives a crap about others. Me, Me, Me! I, I, I! Yes a single mother who is working should not complain when she can no longer afford to take her kids to school before she needs to get to work. The old couple who have a hard time walking should not complain when they can no longer afford to go to the grocery store. What of the people who work the minimum jobs?? People who serve you're uncaring arses? Yes I can afford to drive but I have compassion for the people that will be in for tough times due to all these increases. It is not just about driving fools!! Everything has already increased due to the gas prices, just compare the price of groceries to what they were 3 months ago!

So if you think you have impressed anyone with you're "I drive and don't complain" ego. Think again!
Hey Econ, do you really think the market is setting fuel prices? Why are refineries dialed back, why are producers satisfying all customers, why is futures trading controlling oil prices?
yes econ 101..I would like to invite you to stay at my house for a week-bring your bike, your gonna need it !..hehe

I got you a job in town..you start at 8 am. I'm curious to know if you would still be 'singin the same tune' after a week in a small community. The 100 bucks will cover your bike repairs! ..
To govsux:

As we transition to electric cars, yes we will need cleaner energy sources. But we can get enough electricity for our future needs from nuclear, wind, and solar; there just isn't enough demand for it yet, because oil is still "cheap" compared. Batteries can be recycled. I agree: nothing is perfect, but electric vehicles are orders of magnitude better for the environment than gas vehicles. As for more fuel efficient vehicles, even if we doubled the mileage of every vehicle on the road and every vehicle produced from now on, we will be back in the EXACT same position withing 10 years because the number of vehicles on the road is increasing exponentially with China and India. We need to get off gas COMPLETELY! Increases in mileage will only prolong the inevitable (and not very much at that).

To ShellShadow:

So we should kill the environment with gas-guzzling vehicles so the old and single moms can drive their cars around? Sorry, but you are missing my point. This problem affects ALL of us. I WANT to get rid of my gas-guzzling car. I don't want to drive past the single moms and elderly in my car while they walk miles. I want alternatives for EVERYBODY. Better electric public transit. Better organization of new neighborhoods, so you can walk or ride a bike to a market, instead of driving from the Hart to College Heights to go to Wallmart. Unfortunately, life is not perfect, and many people may have to move close to work or schools so it is practical to walk or ride. That's just a reality of the future. But there is not going to be any change unless there is hardship first. And it affects all of us.
Excuse me but in you're first post you said nothing like what you are saying in the second. Do not insult me by trying to twist my words to make it sound like I am for killing the envioronment. What I want is for people to stop and concider everyone involved. You think the answer to all the polution is gas prices and new and better fuels to put into new and better cars. OMG! There is to much greed in the world! Do you really think that putting hardships on the old, poor and sick is going to change things? Do you think our government wants us to stop using fuel? Go buy you're electric car and drive past the people that suffered the hardships (as you put it), and call it a day. In the end nothing will have changed because there is just way to much coruption. * Shaking head
So, Shellshadow, you think lowering gas prices so we can continue to live the way we always have and kill the environment is the answer? I don't really see what your argument is, except to try to put words in my mouth. What is your solution? I never said anything about expensive new electric cars. I think any electric cars coming to the market soon are way overpriced. The best solution is converting gas vehicles to electric. It is cheaper and it keeps vehicles out of junk yards.

You don't need to get so angry with me. If you have a logical argument, that's fine, but if you keep putting words in my mouth, I'm not going to respond anymore.
Take an electric vehicle out in the bush where you work, you probably won't get home. But wait a minute we could take transit out there and back and I'll catch the skytrain on the Hart and head to Bear Lake or maybe the sky train out to Beaverley and on into the bush. Wait another minute, I have to heat my home this winter, I'll convert to electric. Hmmmm whats the point in that? Years ago we were advised by Hydro and others to remove our base board heaters as natural gas was the one and only way to go. A never ending supply of clean burning fuel. This crap may work in the governments real B.C. (Vanouver) but it sure as hell ain't going to work here! So econ101 why don't you put my boots on and go to work for a day and just see how far you get with your electric car!
Again Econ, Do you really think market forces are setting gas prices?
As to BC Hydro encouraging us to use other than electricity for heat;
then and now, if we use less power, they can sell it to the yanks and that is their motivation, just like it was for alcan & kemano.
metalman.
Of course the market sets the price. Fear of supply, high demand. In Mexico over the winter I was paying .65/litre government operated PEMEX can supply plenty of gas, too bad there's so little demand they could get 1.50 a litre.

When was the last time an oil refinery was developed? If you can get a buck more for a commodity would you? If you had the only car wash in town would it be free?

Yes the market sets the price (speculators on wall street, you and me, small investors, oil company's, all market forces), if we parked our cars for a month, it would lower demand, therefore increasing the supply and lowering the price (see Mexico above).

As for not being compassionate: When did owning a vehicle become a right of citizenship? Is it not a luxury?

As for justamom's offer:..I would like to invite you to stay at my house for a week-bring your bike, your gonna need it !..hehe

I got you a job in town..you start at 8 am. I'm curious to know if you would still be 'singin the same tune' after a week in a small community. The 100 bucks will cover your bike repairs! ..

As for moving out to the suburbs, sorry mom, I'm a city boy, with an education who has the ability to live and work anywhere in the world and I've decided to live here! Right in the city. If I want to rid my bike or walk I can, if I want to drive my auto I have that choice as well. Because of my education I'm able to provide my family with a little more of an income, than your willing to offer.....the power of education is unbelievable.

Having lived in this town for a number of years now, I just get frustrated with the constant complaining about how "we're getting the shaft".

I'm on the Island right now, round trip all in (ferries, gas, 2 nights hotel, food) $1,000. That's plenty of cash for most families.

I'm very grateful for what I have, I put myself through university twice as an adult ( I paid no tax dollars). Had to sell my cars, houses and buy a bus pass in order to get the education I needed to find employment. I do not consider myself lucky, I made a decision for my future.

If we should be complaining about anything, it should be the price of insurance and paying such high rates for never having a claim! That's worth bitching about!

Note to Ben:

How long before people actually understand that they have a say in the price of gas. I can remember the uproar you created when gas was hitting 80 cents. Now its hitting 1.50......Where have all the people gone?
