Winter Storm Warning In Effect

Prince George, B.C. – A Winter Storm Warning is in effect for the Prince George region.
A frontal system is currently producing snow over the northern and central BC interior. Over the Williston and McGregor regions snow is expected to increase in intensity through the day with the heaviest amounts forecast to fall tonight. 20 to 30 cm of snow is likely by Saturday morning.
For the Prince George region 6 cm of snow has been reported overnight. Snow is expected to end for the bulk of the region late this afternoon. An additional 10 cm of snow is forecast to fall by that time.
In Quesnel 6 cm of snow has fallen overnight with another 5 to 10 cm expected by early this afternoon.
With warmer air aloft moving into the central interior late in the day freezing rain is expected to develop over northern portions of the Prince George region – north of the city of Prince George. Freezing rain is forecast to continue late into the evening until temperatures warm above the freezing mark.
20 to 30 cm of snow is expected for the McGregor and Williston regions by Saturday morning.
10 to 20 cm of snow for the Prince George region by late this afternoon.
Freezing rain over northern sections of the Prince George region late this afternoon into the evening.
Envirionement Canada is advising that you continue to monitor weather conditions.

A big dump of snow followed by rain. UH OH !
Just look at it this way, freezing rain over snow covered streets is not as bad as freezing rain on pavement.
Okay people, just remember that even though you drive a 4×4 with great winter tires, you CANNOT drive fast on these streets. You HAVE to remember that other people make mistakes and, if you are driving fast, you WON’T be able to avoid them.
