Local Transit Making Tracks Through Storm

Friday, December 16, 2011 @ 12:20 PM

Prince George, B.C. –  So far, so good for residents relying on local transit to make their way around the city during today’s snowstorm…

The City’s Transit and Projects Manager, Dave Bradshaw, says, "Currently, right now we have no delays reported for any of the buses this morning, so they’re doing well."

Although Bradshaw says that could change, given the amount of snowfall in the forecast.  He points out the heavy snowfall in the middle of November did cause some minor delays, so local transit is not immune to weather conditions.

For the most up-to-date information, transit riders can phone the local transit information line before leaving home at 250-563-0011.’

As for the ‘Food For Fare’ campaign that started yesterday – where residents donate non-perishable food items in lieu of transit fares  – Bradshaw says, "Based on the amount of food collected yesterday, it looks like we could potentially receive more than we did last year, so that’s great."

The campaign runs through Sunday, with the food collected to be donated to the local Salvation Army.
