Terrace, B.C. – RCMP are investigating after the home of a northwest BC man was robbed as he lay dead in the residence.
Terrace RCMP say the 78 year old man’s son found him deceased at his rural home December 30th. The man was there to check on his dad, who was terminally ill when he discovered signs of a break and enter. It was after that he found his father’s body.
The Terrace RCMP Forensic Identification Unit and the BC Coroners Service have determined that foul play was not involved in the man’s death. Investigators say the resident’s death and the break-in are not related.
“It is likely that it was known the man was deceased while the home was went through,” says Constable Angela Rabut of the Terrace RCMP.
Rabut says the items stolen from the home include a white Mastercraft air compressor with an orange hose attached to it, two red plastic 20 L Jerry cans – one marked “STRAIT GAS”, and an orange gas powered weed trimmer.
RCMP are still investigating the break and enter and theft.

ABSOLUTELY DISGRACEFUL!!!!!!!!!!!
I heard on the radio that the thieves went through the man’s pockets and stole his wedding ring. I’m not a big believer in Karma, but I really hope it comes back on these lowlifes.
Very disturbing. I hope the RCMP catch these criminals.
I call it Looting and you know what to do with Looters!
My word what is wrong with people?
The perps need to be clubbed like a seal.
The RCMP have property crimes at the bottom of thier priority list so don’t expect much.
Speeding tickets on the other hand bring in millions every year.
Drugs. Why can’t the RCMP get tough on crime and leave speeding alone?—wait— I can answer that. Money.
I find it extremely frustrating that drugs cause so much theft and the cops are out chasing grow ops. Young girls are stoned out of their minds on street corners and road blocks are set up for people reading .05. Law enforcement, my ass. In the name of safety, my ass. Are these young kids safe? Crack down on the hard drugs—HARD.
