Golden B.c.- Therehas been another avalanche related death.
Around 3:40 this afternoon, Golden/Field RCMP received a report on an avalanche in Molars Bowl, just west of Golden, BC..
It was reported that a group of Back Country Skiers had been caught in the avalanche and one person buried. The person was dug out by members of the ski party and CPR was started.
Golden Search and Rescue attended the avalanche site by helicopter and extracted the buried skier. He was flown directly to Golden General Hospital where doctors continued to work on him. The skier ultimately succumbed to his injures and was pronounced dead.
The investigation revealed the ski party was from the United States. Names will not be released until next of kin have been notified. RCMP say no further information will be released on this matter until Monday.
This is the 4th death from an avalanche in B.C. this season. A Prince George snowmobiler died in November in the Torpy recreation area, one skier died in a slide in the Pemberton region, another near Revelstoke, and the death today near Golden.
Comments
I understand the enjoyment of the back country , but really is it really worth the risk when there are warnings out. I feel for the friends and families of those who have died , but when do we start thinking about the safety of those who have to go in and retrieve the victims?
If you do risky things and taunt death sooner or later you will loose.
Yes, it is better to sit on the couch and stay tight…
Condolences to the family and friends
They don’t go in and retrieve the victims when it’s not safe, they work when it’s safe and they do it because they love what they do.
“Lose” P Val “lose”not loooooooooooooose.
“sit on the couch”
I along with many other outdoor lovers would much rather be outdoors in any and all conditions rather than sit on the couch.
The problem is some of us don’t heed the warnings and avoid the dangerous areas out there. Nothing says when there are high avalanche warnings posted that you need to stay home. Only people that are lacking outdoor experience think that way.
