Prince George Fire Rescue says firefighters were called to a large house fire in the 27-hundred block Merritt Road, off Westwood Drive, at about 3 this morning. Twenty firefighters from four halls responded and found heavy smoke and flames coming out the top floor and roof of the structure. Firefighters rescued the lone male inside the house.   He was rushed to hospital where his condition is described as uncertain.

Fire investigators on scene have made a preliminary determination that the fire is suspicious in nature.

Fire and RCMP investigators are now trying to determine the cause of the blaze. There were no other injuries and a damage estimate is not available.
