Prince George, B.C. – Nine-year-old Rylan Seddon says Family Literacy Day events at the library this afternoon were "awesome".
The Hart Highlands Elementary student was at the Bob Harkins branch with his dad and sisters to try out all the frog-themed activity stations, but Rylan says he’s spent most of his time tossing frogs. (click on above photo for a short video clip)
Childrens’ Librarian, Becky Stark, says tossing frogs was definitely this year’s most popular event with the kids.
Stark, herself, was busy helping three-year-old Elizabeth Job make a paper frog.
Job’s mom, Denise, says her daughter is always eager to go to the library and starts bouncing around the house when she knows a visit is part of their daily activities.
Kelly Wessels echoes Job’s comments. She says her daughter, Annaliese, is always urging her to ‘get her boots on’ when they’re off to the library.
Annaliese was getting some help with her paper frog from the library’s Youth Advisory Board member, Penny Raymond.
Stark says YAB is at full capacity this year, with about 25 members, many of whom were on-hand to help out with today’s activity stations.
Photo below shows Jodi Alm, a three-year member of YAB, and Meghan Heffernan, a first-year member, both of whom say they really enjoyed helping out for today’s event.
