Spruce Kings Trounce Vipers 7-2 At Home
Prince George, B.C. – The Prince George Spruce Kings had a four-goal second period en route to a 7-2 trouncing of the Vernon Vipers in front of 853 hometown fans at the Coliseum this evening.
Ty Swabb stopped 33 of 35 shots for the Kings, in a game that was tied 1-1 after the first period, thanks to a power-play goal for the Vipers. Prince George came on strong in the second to lead 5-1 after 40-minutes and added another two in the third.
Jujhar Khaira had two goals, while Gerry Fitzgerald and Paul De Jersey both had three-point nights with a goal and two assists each. Other goal scorers for Prince George were Tyson Witala, Jarryd Ten Vaanholt, and Zack Russell.
With the win, the Spruce Kings improve to 49-points in the Interior Division – they’re in 4th place, two points back of Chilliwack and 6-points ahead of Vernon.
The Kings face the Vipers in a matinee re-match tomorrow at 3pm.
