Lakeland Mills Operational Today, Despite Fire Yesterday
Prince George, BC – Prince George Fire Rescue was called to Lakeland Mills in the CNR Industrial site for a fire that is being described as ‘relatively minor in nature’.
Deputy Fire Chief John Iverson says three halls responded with five vehicles when the call came in at about 8am yesterday morning. Iverson says a small blaze apparently broke out in the last stage of the sawdust collection system.
Lakeland Mills has its own fire protection crews on-site. Iverson says given the nature of the operation and all the sawdust involved, PG Fire Rescue assisted to ensure the incident remained contained and all the hotspots were fully extinguished.
He says one crew worked the scene, while the second hall remained at the mill on stand-by, and the third was eventually released. Fire fighters were at the mill for approximately six-hours.
There are no officials at Lakeland Mills available to comment at this time. However, the mill is fully operational today.

keep that mill working.
Ditto to what He spoke said above. Ya got that $17 million dollar hot water joke going down George Street at risk. I don’t wanna see my city taxes paying for a new furnace and hot water heater at that plant. Hypothetically, if it did burn down and the aforementioned furnace and hot water units were to be replaced, would the city be responsible for gathering up the hog fuel and such or would the unionized workers there be hired by the city instead. Way to go, Danno.
