Prince George- A fire in a mattress in an apartment block in the 200 block of McIntyre Cres sent the residents fleeing from the three storey building early this morning.

When fire crews arrived on the scene they found the building had been evacuated, but quickly determined that the fire was confined to the mattress and were able to put it out.

The building was ventilated and the residents returned to their suites. The fire was caused by careless smoking.

There were no injuries.
