Prince George, BC – Leap Day gave the North District’s Integrated Marijuana Enforcement Team a extra day to fight the war on drugs…

Members of the team, officers from 100 Mile House and other support units executed a search warrant on a property in 103 Mile House on Wednesday.  Technicians from BC Hydro, Fortis Gas, and the 100 Mile House Fire Department were also called in to assist in making the residence on Saunders Crescent safe for investigators to process the scene.

Police discovered 249 mature marijuana plants and five kilograms of harvested marijuana, along with grow op equipment.  A hydro by-pass was also found.

100 Mile House RCMP Detachment Operations Supervisor, Sergeant Don McLean, says, "The street value of the seized marijuana is estimated to be $170-thousand dollars."  He says the pot was likely destined for distribution across the US border and says the seizure is another step forward in the RCMP’s fight against organized crime.

A 28-year-old man from Surrey was arrested at the scene and is facing a number of drug-related charges.
