So, does the school district pay teachers when they are on strike?

No they don’t

Don’t remind them of that or they will be looking to negotiate it.

I thought teachers were on salary- so yes they are being paid.

Maybe Lou should do a little research before running off. The government is not paying teachers while they are on strike. So said the Lieberals on BCTV news last night. Just another Liberal hack who knows not what he speaks of.

So with the pro d day set for friday I wonder how many kid’s will show up thursday?

@lou & He Spoke:I thought teachers were on salary- so yes they are being paid.

Have you EVER worked at all? EVER been involved in a labour dispute? It sure doesn’t sound like it – are you 12 or something?

When someone goes on strike, the employer DEDUCTS the salary or wages for the days on strike – 3 days on strike = 3 days pay taken off of their paycheque – duh!

As far as KIDS showing up, they probably will, unless their parents have told them not to bother, in which case, whose fault is that – the teachers who will be in school ready to teach, or the parents who don’t value education enough to make their kids go to school? And why would they not go? Will the parents be happy to get a head start on that all important Spring Break trip out of town? Better not be the same people who complained about the teacher strike causing them to get daycare…
