Bell, Bond, Rustad All Plan To Run With Christy
Saturday, March 31, 2012 @ 6:54 AM
Prince George, B.C. – There’s no doubt about it, the three incumbent Liberal MLAs in north-central B.C. will be seeking re-election whenever the next provincial election is held. By law it must be held by May 14, 2013.
Earlier this week the members of the legislature were taken by surprise when Abbotsford South MLA John van Dongen, a former Liberal cabinet minister, stood to denounce the actions and lack of leadership of Premier Christy Clark and to announce that he was quitting the Liberal Party and joining the B.C. Conservatives. In the wake of the defection two cabinet ministers, Finance Minister Kevin Falcon and Education Minister George Abbott, have said they do not know whether they will allow their names to stand in the next election. With the Liberal Party and specifically Premier Clark’s popularity dropping with each new poll that comes out, it is unclear whether other members on the government side may choose to seek employment elsewhere.
But here in the central interior things are very clear. Prince George-Valemount MLA Shirley Bond says “it is my intent to run. I think something that needs saying is that it is physically an extremely demanding job. It’s a tough job and one that is hard on families. There are two main considerations: health and family. I have served three terms and this would be a fourth.” Bond, the current Minister of Justice and Attorney-general, was first elected in 2001. In the 2009 election she took 50.61% of the vote to win the seat. The NDP candidate was next with 37.58%.
Nechako Lakes MLA John Rustad has served two terms, first winning election in 2005. IN ’09 the backbencher took 55.76% of the vote to 35.29 for the New Democrat. Rustad says “I have hoped to serve more than a couple of terms. I have accomplished some of my goals but have a few more things I’d like to get done so I plan to run for another term.”
Prince George-Mackenzie MLA Pat Bell, like Bond, has served three terms. He was first elected in Prince George-North in 2001. The current Minister of Jobs, Tourism and Innovation says “you will see my name beside a B.C. Liberal logo alongside a picture of Premier Christy Clark to seek a fourth term.” In the 2009 provincial election Bell garnered 56.05% of the vote compared to 36.84% for the NDP candidate.

Running!? All the way to the trough!
Bye!
Bell was the first one to run up to Christy and give her a big hug after her leadership win, even though he supported Falcon. He’s the ultimate Chameleon. How much longer can he survive on announcements of lumber sales to China.
Shirley on the other hand is a hard worker, however she seems out of touch with reality. The rioting in Vancouver was partly because of the inability of the City of Vancouver, the Police, and the Provincial Government to recognize that they were setting up a situation that could get nasty. In by opinion poor judgement. This time around they will have the celebrations spread over 23 different areas, which of course makes sense. To little to late??? Who knows.
Shirley has made every Senior in the Province upset with her Computer tests for drivers licenses. Again, poor judgement. Anyone with half a brain and a butt knows that Seniors are not computer literate and that those types of tests are not only intimadating, but should be uncostitutional. They are in effect an effective way to restrict the freedom of movement for some individuals. Shirley is now trying to make some changes, however the situation should never have made it to this point.,
The Liberals have this nasty habit of working behind closed doors, and then hitting us with less than intelligent legislation.
Rustad. Who’s he?
Hanging with Christy in this election may not be a smart idea, this election will be one hell of a mess, and when the dust settles we could have a minority Government.
I predict we will have more Independents running this time around than ever before, and the vote will be split so that its anyones guess who will win a riding.
Running to find new jobs? I see a list of people in line at the unemployment office.
Shirley Bond~Minister of Justice:
Please explain how a person charged with molesting a child can avoid prosecution because police and other government officials cannot afford to pay for translation services?
This situation is absolutely inexcuseable and the MINISTER should be taking steps to bring this person before the courts. :-(
Oh goody I do hope these three do run again. So that we get to see them get slaughtered. Soon the truth is going to come to everyone in BC. The corruption of this party is going to be exposed. Even though the mainstream media is so far keeping this stuff hidden from you that is going to change. Very soon. Crusty and her lackeys like bell and bond and the other guy whats his name? Rustad ah. The BC Rail issue is just getting started. This stuff is going to be in your faces real soon. And after this HST debacle there aint no way that any of these clowns will ever get re-elected again. The scandals and the corruption from this outfit is so bad that hopefully some of them end up with criminal charges. Already an ex minister has hired a private lawyer to force this issue into the open. Try reading this.

There you will get the real story about what is really going on here in BC. And it aint pretty. These media outfits are nothing but advertising platforms to try and sell made in china garbage. For example. On the right hand side of the 0250 front page you see Mcginess lighting moving in the little box. Go into that shop and try and buy a light fixture made in canada. LOL it is all cheap junk from china or other slave labor market countries. Absolutely DISGUSTING.
Soon the HST will be extinguished and the Lie-berals wipd out. COMPLETELY. bell included. Chooo…Chooo
Things can change in over a year.
While the next election is the NDP’s to lose, I have a hard time believing that Bell and Bond will be beaten by some no-name NDP candidate in their respective ridings. Stranger things have happened.
My ‘bold’ prediction (lol): The NDP will win in 2014, because the Conservatives have spilt the right of center vote effectively. Indepedents will spinter the vote even more, and none will get elected.
matty: “Oh goody I do hope these three do run again. So that we get to see them get slaughtered.”
At least for now, Bell, Bond, and Rustad have the guts to run. I remember back in 2001 when the NDP was voted into non-party status that Boone and Ramsey tucked their tails between their legs and didn’t run when they saw the writing on the wall.
Johnny that was 20 years ago. It has no relevance today in my opinion. Just wait till the scandals are in your face everyday. It’s coming SOON. and this goverment is going down. Cristy will not last another year.
Actually, it was just over 10. And I’m not denying that the NDP is going to win the next election. Just be careful what you wish for.
Yes that’s right Johnny. It was just over ten years ago. I stand corrected. Still I say that it really has no bearing on what is going on today. The liberal attack ads are not going to help this bunch either. Every time they put one out it just re-enforces the publics disgust at this regime. All they can say is fast ferrys and that story is so used up now that it just hardens everyones attitude toward the liberals, every time we have to hear it. I have never heard an attack ad against the regime from the NDP. Fact is they are better then that. And we also have to think how much of OUR money they waste bombarding the people with this garbage. The liberals are TOAST. And it is all there own doing. When they blame the people, that will back fire on ’em too. So it really does not matter if it was ten years ago or 2o Johnny. Fact is the liberals are FINISHED in BC.
Soon the HST will be extinguished and the Lie-berals wiped out. COMPLETELY. bell included. Chooo…Chooo
Need the fiberals out so the house can be cleaned. Politics is like my hard drive, every once in awhile it needs to be reformated. NDP will get in and eventually they will have to be reformatted, a continuing cycle.
Once an object has been firmly lodged into the rectum, it can only be removed surgically
12yrs. is long enough. Time for a change, and change is good. No matter who it is as long as it’s not Liberal.
may you all enjoy hitting the brick wall at the same time, good-bye
I agree with you Johnny! Be careful what you wish for.
No surprise here. All three took the position of party power over principles in the HST debacle… they have no respect for the democratic process and no doubt will tie their horse to any scandal that sees them fool the electorate again.
“Fool me once, shame on me, fool me twice… while I ain’t going to be fooled again” GW Bush lol
Lets all hope we are a lot smarter and a little less naive next time around.
“My ‘bold’ prediction (lol): The NDP will win in 2014”
2014?
What is there to win in 2014?
Are you thinking it will be a minority government in May 2013 and a new election will be called after a year because nothing can be done in the legislature?
The fun will be in voting them out!
gus: “2014?”
Oops. I meant to say 2013. As usual, gus is there to save the day!
Morg: “The fun will be in voting them out!”
Yep, that’s what we do in BC.
Well, I thought the scenario of 2013 and then another vote in 2014 was intriguing.
We have not seen that for a while, but all bets for the 4 year cycle continuing could easily be off. :-)
Im still guessing election in July, 2012. Teachers cooling off period ends in August.
July everyone on holidays (especially teachers) People at the lake, etc; etc;
Low voter turn-out could work in favour of the Liberals. There is no point waiting for a year so that Dix, and Cummins can get their S..t together. Better to go sooner, and force them to scramble.
All the announcements lately are for a reason. Christy needs a mandate, and some credibility. She is also surrounded by the biggest bunch of losers in BC history. She has to get rid of this baggage if she has any chance.
Goodbye, Kevin, Colin, George, et al;
Standings in last election. Liberals 49 NDP 35.
Standings in 2012 after the election. Liberals 35, NDP 38 Conservatives 7 Independents 4. This would mean another coalition of the right, in order to keep the NDP at bay. The independents might have the balance of power.
Aint politics fun.
John Charest and Kimmy Campbell.
Jenny Kwan and Whatsername McFail
Maybe Bell and maybe Bond next year.
I will wait.
Just maybe a one term dipper government and be able to throw them out again before we become a have not province.
Well I think that the Liberals could have soared with Falcon but they decided to snap with Christy!
The liberals will be lucky to have a seat after the next election….they have no respect for the people of this province and it’s evident even to die hard supporters.
I made my prediction above, however I tend to agree with Jim13135. The Liberals actually do not deserve to hold one seat.
They have basically emasculated us, and the Province. They have no concern whatsoever for any of us taxpayer citizens, and in fact, have been hosing us for the past 9 years. They have no concept of Governing, and certainly no concept of looking after their constituents.
Have a nice day.
“There is no point waiting for a year so that Dix, and Cummins can get their S..t together.”
All parties have equal time to win or lose the election.
The party in power still has to govern until the next election. They have to act, even if it is in a “safe mode”.
The best tactic for those trying to grab power may very well be lying as low as possible – playing it even safer. The less they show their hand, the better it may be.
“Its (BCRail) operations were owned by the public as a crown corporation from 1918 until 2004, when the provincial government leased operations for 990 years to CN.[1][2] The track and other assets, including a marine division and stevedoring subsidiary as well as large tracts of real estate, remain under public ownership.”
Mattyc:” It was just over ten years ago. I stand corrected. Still I say that it really has no bearing on what is going on today.”
Getting awfully close to the 10 year anniversary of the BCRail thing! After that (according to the comment) “it has no bearing on what is going on today.”
As time goes by everything gets swept under the carpet.
I agree with mattyc, if you want to hear the truth about all the lies check out

And yes soon the mainstream media will being to publish stories but there is no hurry the pile of dirt will keep growing until printing deadline then we may see the exodus
One prediction, all photos of Christy will show her looking tired and worn out,do not be fooled they will be playing the sympathy card from here on out
Told you it was good stuff there. Always great to have more readers of Alex. He does the BEST stories in all of BC. And the blog comments part is just awsome. Anyway as Alex always says to new readers
WELCOME ABOARD.
Soon the HST will be extinguished and the Lie-berals wiped out. COMPLETELY. bell included. Chooo…Chooo
I for one am really impressed with these three MLA’s and what they have done for B.C. and the interior. Look forward to them working past 2014.
