Traffic Volumes Not The Worry, It’s Road Conditions This Long Weekend
Prince George, BC – While area highways are not, historically, as busy on this first long weekend of spring, Prince George Regional Provincial Traffic Services will have a full complement out on the roads looking for drinking drivers, drivers talking on their cell phones, seatbelt use and aggressive driving…
Staff-Sergeant Pat McTiernan says with most camping spots and cabins still ‘snowed in’ in the northern region, there aren’t, typically, too many RVs or campers out on the roadways yet, it’s mainly people traveling from one community to another to spend time with family.
He’s cautioning drivers heading out on a trip this weekend to check ahead for weather conditions in their destination communities. For example, snow is expected in, and around Banff today, for those traveling through to Calgary.
McTiernan says driving to road conditions at this time of year takes vigilance, as they can change quickly. He says there’s a lot of melting snow – meaning water on roadways during the daytime, with icy patches in shaded areas…and slippery conditions by late afternoon.

Traffic volumes? I think not. Try pothole volumes. More worrisome if you need to change into the “unmarked” lane beside you to avoid said pothole(s).
I think they are talking highways, not the local cowpaths ….
I stand corrected.
Cowpaths don’t even have the problems our streets do. But the problem isn’t with the streets, its with city hall.
I aggree 100%. The problem is with the mindset at city hall. There is absolutely no sign of anyone, whether it is the City Manager or the Mayor and Council who are coming out and saying,
“1. here is the problem,
2. here is the solution that will fix it,
3. here are two or three ways we can approach it,
4. here is how long each will take to get rid of the problem
5. here is the choice we have made to implement it”
There is ABSOLUTELY no sign to me that there is anyone even home, let alone prepared to do what they were elected to do and what they were hired to do!!!!
Next spring …. guess what … it will be worse than this year.
Nobody cares. Absolutely no one cares.
I have suggested on a few occasions to some people that the City get in front of this issue……I have to admit that I too see and hear nothing as YET!!!!
Here is the 2011 Road Rehab report. On the last page(scroll way down) is 2012 projected.

Bet the shocks and strutts purchases are skyrocketting
Thanks for the link to the 2012 list – I notice that Tabor is missing. They might want to rethink adding it – perhaps voting for Tabor on the BCAA worst roads site will encourage the city to include it on this years paving projects – I can’t imagine what it will look like (and the resulting damage to cars) if left for another year. Also I notice they have Massey from Westwood to Carney and then Winnipeg from 13th to 4th – leaving a gap of several blocks in the middle which still seems to have potholes???
Was just checking out the web and found this neat machine, The Python 500 Pothole Patcher. (www.pythonmfg.com/patchrite.html).
We could put the Wintergames Logo on it!
