Return of Boston Pizza This Week

Prince George, B.C.- It’s been one year and two weeks since the Boston Pizza on West Central in Prince George went up in flames.
According to the sign on the door of the new , rebuilt restaurant, it will be open for business sometime this week.
The owners of the Boston Pizza franchise had sworn they would rebuild, and they have.
The building itself is reminiscent of the exterior of the previous restaurant, but there is no Blockbuster Video store attached.  Blockbuster  had been successful in Prince George, but nationally, the  financial difficulties were too great and the chain closed  its outlets across the country.

Over the past week or so, staff have been on site training, preparing for an opening that is slated for sometime this week.
The May 1st fire of last year was the result of a carelessly discarded cigarette.

They were open for business as of yesterday.
State of the art kitchen, new layout with wheel chair access they will do well at this location too.Congrats to Cindy,Bob and Duke, the place looks great and the taste is Boston

The Keg, Mr Mikes and now Boston Pizza, all now open, but try and find a seat at a place to eat after 5.30 pm on a Friday or Saturday. Whats with this town?

Having a known chain is no quarantee of success. As proved by the Tony Roma’s (too pricey/location), and East Side Mario’s (poor service/food)failure’s, in this town. I wish them luck, but there is a bottom line; they will have to prove themselves.

Albus: “but try and find a seat at a place to eat after 5.30 pm on a Friday or Saturday.”

No kidding. I thought the HST was supposed to kill the restaurant business?

Seeing how crowded the other Boston is, sould ease the rowds there. Will be easier for deliveries to the north end of the city.

I think the old Boston Pizza has a clientele that will definately go back to that restuarant. To be honest we tried the Boston Pizza by Futureshop when it first opened and didn’t like the atmosphere. We went back after the fire destroyed the other one and the food was cold and the staff very immature(goofing around in the kitchen). So I’m hoping this Boston Pizza will be run like it was in the past as we will never go back to the other one.

“No kidding. I thought the HST was supposed to kill the restaurant business?”

Yep and cars were going to rust in peoples driveways when gas hit a 1.00/litre.

I’ve never understood the appeal of Boston Pizza. The food is mediocre at best and the service is by far the slowest of any chain restaurant.

Gang Green there cutting a ribbon? If I want “home cooking” I’ll stay home. I like BP. From time to time. As for restaurant failures go, there are only so many “restaurant dollars” the public has so ya better be good and try to get and keep yer share.

Pssst … Boston Pizza is not Boston pizza. It’s not even New York pizza.

But, if you are looking for a place to have something to eat after midnight these days, it is one of the few places that is open.

Used to be Village Pandora was open till 2 and 3 am. They had good pizza. Franco’s has good pizza …..

But I guess people like to look at hockey uniforms in glass cases … ;-)

agreed faxman… if you want an evening out of getting ignored by staff, and eating pre-fabricated food… go to BP.

They must be doing something right for them to have built the 2nd location (Range Road) years ago.

People have options to suit their tastes, hopefully all restaurants can stay open and be successful – maybe other franchises will see this and open up here as well.

Franco’s from about 20 years ago, hmmmmm, I have a craving for some of their pizza now, thanks.

Franco’s on George St. 30 years ago, their panzerotti was my favourite.
Head and shoulders above BP, back then anyway.

Editor: you could have mentioned that in addition to BP in the rebuilt building will be the new location for Prince Optometry, they are practically an institution in P.G.
metalman.

Oh lord I miss the OLD Franco’s on George St. It was a sad day when they closed.

I miss Shakeys pizza that was on Central back in the day.

Shakeys on Central? Chicken and Mojo’s!! is that what they called them? Standing at the viewing window as a kid watching them prepare the pizza, listening to the piano and carving your name into your table. Those were the days.

Bunch o’ lunch.

hey Albus,,,, having sold out seats in restaurants, any day of the week, is a good thing for this time for Prince George…Maybe choose an earlier or later dinner, or try somewhere new to you

Jolly Rancher pizza the best in town. Depending on who is cooking that day.

Jolly Rancher Pizza? never heard of it?

willyj

I think I will be able to handle my dinning habits, but thank you.

Hey, antiquus vir ….. semper ubi sub ubi …. ;-)

gus, I prefer comando.
