Government all A-Twitter About Family Day

Tuesday, May 15, 2012 @ 3:58 AM
Prince George, B.C. – The Province wants you to tweet about the plans for Family Day in February.

The province plans to join five other regions in the Country with a long weekend in February. Right now they are looking at the second or third Monday in that month, and want to hear your preference.

To that end, the Minister of Labour, Citizens’ Services and Open Government Margaret MacDiarmid will host a Twitter Town Hall  between noon and 1 today.

During that hour, you can tell MacDiarmid directly, in real time, which day will work best for you. Citizens can tweet their opinions about which day is best by using this hashtag:  #mybcfd

From now until the 22nd of May, government is engaging with the public, and  consulting with worker groups, employers, the tourism industry and the broader business sector to ensure all potential economic and social benefits are taken into account before finalizing a February date for the new holiday.

If you aren’t into “tweeting”…you can always register your thoughts here, or on Facebook .

another way Christy Clark soaks small business. I have to pay 2 employees to stay home and lose 1 day of production. this Premier is killing my small business.

is this a bone thrown to the voter? is this to help us feel as though we have some say in how the government runs things?

Did you have a say in the government selling BC Rail? Did you have a say in the payment of 6 million in hush money to Basi and Virk? Did you have a say in the Libs bringing in the HST after saying they wouldn’t? Did you have a say in the shipment of resources and jobs out of the province? In bringing in foreign workers? It goes on and on, and these cheats want you to believe they’re “letting” you pick a day for a holiday? Who cares what day it is? What a sham. and some people will swallow it

What ever day they have this new POS holiday, I have already told my boss that he can keep the time and a half money and if I am off duty on that day to NOT pay me if I am not at work that day. I simply will refuse to accept the money from him. This holiday is a useless aste for EVERY person in BC. That’s how I will deal with the holiday. So mr. bossman I won’t make you pay me for this sickening holiday. Keep it for yourself.

Soon the HST will be EXTINGUISHED and the LIE berals will be EXTINGUISHED too/ All of ’em. Like Ben says they can meet in a Fiat 500. LOL LOL LOL. PARASITES.

I surprised the Liberals would introduce another holiday like this. This would be something the NDP would do.

No Johnny its your buddies the Liberals who try to buy votes. why do you think they’ve kept the HST around until the month before the election?

Well this little piece of stupidity will cost me far more in one day than the HST cost me in a year, so if it’s my vote they’re trying to buy it’s a massive fail. Sadly I will still have to vote for them to prevent the NDP from destroying the province again.

“why do you think they’ve kept the HST around until the month before the election?”

I woinder if it has anything to do with the agreement that was signed by the province with the feds …..

That is a rhetorical question ….. of course you would not know that since you really have not got the faintest clue what that agreement stated and how to find it on the internet …..

So many functionally illiterate people around these days…… but hey, it is to your advantage …. ignorance is bliss, after all.

gus: “So many functionally illiterate people around these days…… but hey, it is to your advantage …. ignorance is bliss, after all.”

If it wasn’t for them, the HST wouldn’t have been voted down. Seems that many of them figured out how to fill out the referendum. Oh well.

You got it wrong JohnnyBelt. It was the people who were in favour of the HST who were not able to understand the process.

They were so dumb they couldnt send in enough correctly filled out forms to win, and as a result they lost. Even to-day, they still do not understand the tax, or the process, and still run around repeating things that they heard two years ago, hoping that something has changed.

Many people in Canada including BC already enjoy this proposed holiday. It was negotiated into many collective agreements in BC years ago when the Feds proposed a new stat they called “Heritage Day”.

Whatever helps you sleep at night, Palopu.
