Prince George, B.C.  — Graduating Cariboo Cougar forward Brett Roulston once again has major junior hockey in his sights signing a standard WHL contract with the Prince George Cougars.

The 17-year old native of Whitehorse, YT is coming off an impressive bounce-back season with the Cats scoring 16 goals and adding 20 assists in 35 games.

"I’m really proud of myself and my parents are really proud of me. I coudln’t ask for anything better with the season I had and everything, the Cougars are giving me a great opportunity, we’ll see what I can do with it and make the best of it," said Roulston.

His scoring touch, powerful shot, and hard hitting style of play earned him plenty of attention this past season as the Cougars decided to add the 6’1", 200 pound forward to their protected list in March.

"We think we got some special forwards there that need a winger to flank and will help go knock guys off the puck and get it to those guys and we think he’s the guy that can do that, and if he can get in some spots he has some opportunites to score some goals," said Cougars General Manager Dallas Thompson.

The signing is a second shot at the WHL for Roulston who was originally in the Kamloops Blazers system before a serious injury kept him out of the entire 2010-2011 season. While it was a huge blow at the time, it only strengthened his resolve to battle back, regain his health, and prove that he has what it takes.
