Avalanche Closes HIghway 37A

Stewart, B.C. – Highway 37 A is closed at George Copper, and there is no word on when it will reopen.
An avalanche has blocked the roadway with debris and snow. There are no reports of anyone being injured.
The Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure, Billabong Road Maintenance and Private Enterprise are at the scene, assessing the site and removing the obstructions.
At this time it is unknown when the Highway will reopen.
DriveBC is expected to issue an update at 4 this afternoon.

Geez, it’s a good thing that nobody is contemplating building a pipeline through similar terrain!
