Partial Re-opening of Highway 16 East

Prince George, B.C. – Highway 16, 8 kilometres west of the junction with Highway 5 at Tete Jaune Cache, is now open to single-lane, alternating traffic.
That section of the highway had been closed to all traffic since 3:30 Saturday afternoon when it was hit by a mud slide.
Meantime Highway 16 is still closed in both directions 26 kilometres east of the Highway 5 junction due to flooding. There is no detour available and the Transportation Ministry indicates the earliest that section may re-open is 10 o’clock tonight. However there is not much optimism that target will be realized.
So, you can get through to Highway 5 from the west, but not from the east under the current road conditions.
