Prince George, B.C. – Investigators with Prince George Fire/Rescue and the Prince George RCMP are looking into the cause of a fire this morning at a duplex on  McCullagh Avenue.

Shortly before 5am, 15 Firefighters from 3 halls responded to a confirmed fire in a duplex in the 1400 block of McCullagh Avenue. Crews found smoke and flames at the rear of both dwelling units. Five occupants of one side and one occupant of the other side had evacuated safely.

The bulk of the fire was quickly knocked down with an aggressive interior attack. The fire had extended into the attic space along the common wall between the two units. A special nozzle was used to inject water into the attic space while the roof was kept intact to contain the fire and minimize damage from water and firefighting efforts. The fire was extinguished within approximately 2 hours, and overhaul continues to eliminate all hot spots.

Investigators with Prince George Fire/Rescue and the Prince George RCMP are on scene to determine the cause of the fire.
A damage estimate is not yet available.
