Monday, August 13, 2012 @ 9:23 AM
Prince George, B.C. -It has been a deadly weekend on B.C.’s highways. Three people, including an elderly woman from Prince George, have died in two separate crashes on Sunday.

Yesterday afternoon, about 5 km north of Clinton, RCMP responded to a report a Kia Rondo had gone off highway 97, entered a ditch and hit an embankment.

An elderly female passenger from Prince George was seriously injured.  She was  flown by air ambulance to the Royal Inland Hospital in Kamloops B.C.  where she later  succumbed to her injuries.   Her name has not been released and Central Traffic Services continue to investigate.

Around 2:30 yesterday afternoon,  Ashcroft and Lytton RCMP were called to a 2 vehicle head on collision on Highway 1, about  6 kms north of  Spences Bridge .   A Ford Focus and Hyundai Santa Fe had collided.

The driver and passenger in the Ford Focus died. The driver of the Hyundai Santa Fe, was flown to Kelowna General Hospital via Air ambulance with serious injuries.

Police do not believe that alcohol or speed are contributing factors in this incident.

How about devided hwy’s. Oh silly me for asking, that would cost money. Traffic passing within 10 feet at a closing speed of 200 k and people are scared of flying.

Not to worry Seamutt, I think the government has scheduled about another 10 miles of twinning for the Cariboo Connecter this year. Look for that to increase in 2013 since it’s an election year.

The Cariboo Connector is a waste of money.

Traffic is way down on 97 South in the past 10 years. A few more passing lanes would be more than sufficient.

Highway 16 West on the other hand has had a huge increase in traffic during the same period, and will continue to increase for at least the next 10 years. This is where the action is, and that is where the money should be spent.

The Liberals (as usual) are running approx 10 years behind the traffic trends.

Not to worry Palopu, I’m sure the NDP will know what to do. They seem to have all the answers for everything else until the election is over.

Retired:
GOOD ONE! And so true.
