P.G. Man in Critical Condition Following Crash
Prince George, B.C.- A 21 year old Prince George man is in critical condition following a single vehicle crash early this morning.
Shortly after 3 this morning, Quesnel RCMP, BC Ambulance Services and Highway Rescue were called to the scene of a single vehicle crash on Highway 97 near Ahbau Creek – north of Quesnel.
An SUV was traveling northbound on Highway 97 near Ahbua Creek when it left the roadway after failing to negotiate a curve.
Emergency responders arrived to find the 21 year old driver pinned underneath the vehicle. The male was extracted by Highway Rescue personnel and transferred to Quesnel’s GR Baker Hospital before being transported by Air Ambulance to another hospital. Although RCMP were not able to say where he was taken, they do know he remains in critical condition. His 20 year old passenger, also from Prince George, was treated at GR Baker for non-life threatening injuries and later released.

This is a dangerous section of highway. All my hopes go out to this young man.
The highway is an inanimate object; it poses no danger to anyone. The danger comes from the people who use the highway.
People are the danger.
Just like all those blaming the hwy into Ft MacMurray for being dangerous. If it was the hwy to blame the RCMP wouldn’t be deploying 17 new patrol cars up there, would they?
faxman and Dragonmaster are right. It isn’t often even mechanical falure. In the old days, there were lots of mechanical failures but people didn’t often die or get hurt. They were paying attention and going slower.
Nowadays it seems everything is blamed but the driver.

Yeah right …….

The danger first comes from the people who design the highway and second from those who open it up for people to use.
The ambulances told those men that no one who has crashed there has lived an that there has been a huge fetality rate on the corner . So for everyone who says its not the highway your highly mistaken.

I’ve driven that road hundreds of times and never had a problem………so have hundreds of thousands of others so……
That’s not to say that (or any other) road couldn’t be made safer so drivers that do make a mistake don’t die but the ultimate responsibility for safety lies with the operator of the vehicle. I’m seeing to many of the youth of today going thru life with no comprehension of consequences and blaming the ‘world’ for not looking after them. Often with these sad outcomes, we wish them both a speedy and full recovery
“So for everyone who says its not the highway your highly mistaken. “
So the asphalt reaches up, grabs your foot and pushes it down on the accelerator? OK.
The victim mentality is alive and well.
Whatever the cause of the accident, we’ve got a bunch of people who show a complete lack of sympathy for this young man based on somesort of misguided moral imperative. What a bunch of Grade A ***holes.

Sympathy? Why the heck should anyone be sympathetic? There are over 6 billion people on this planet; I can’t be sympathetic every time one of us does something stupid.
Hopefully the driver learns a lesson here.
Its not the highway, ok?
It’s people. Simple? Yes!
Don’t comment on this if your going to be rude and not say good luck or anything positive . I’m sure if the victims parents say this they would be hurt more . What has happened to the world today there is an article saying a man is in critical condition and everyone comments just to say its not the hight way it’s the driver. Obviously they both played part in the tragic crash. People need to either learn to not comment on a serious issue like this if they don’t have anything positive to say . This man might not even make it and there is only arguing on here !? I understand there is a billion of people on the planet and you can’t give sympathy to everyone but you don’t need to make the matter worse . And if you didnt care about this young man then why read the article and feel the need to comment !
Pixie2012 has a point……..if this was a 45yr old man with his wife and kids in the vehicle would you be voicing the same comments? You might be thinking it but you probably would not voice it out of consideration for the family and friends of the injured. Maybe the family and friends of all victims deserve that consideration…..

Sure I would. It’s not the highway’s fault that a lot people don’t know how to drive properly.
Faxman just stop . Your a pathetic low life scum and your karma will get to you soon .

Interesting. Pointing out that people need to start accepting responsibility for their own actions instead of blaming inanimate objects makes me “…a pathetic low life scum…”. How does that work?
