McBride, B.C. – McBride RCMP and the Coroner’s Office are investigating the cause of a fatal motor vehicle accident Friday morning in McBride.

Prince George Regional Provincial Traffic Services says a 70-year-old man was travelling in a small car on Highway 16, westbound through McBride and turned left onto the South Frontage Road. He drove into the path of a Chev pick-up with three occupants.

The car ended up being T-boned in the subsequent collision.   The elderly man in the car was transported to hospital in McBride but died of his injuries. One of the three occupants of the pick-up was from McBride but the other two were not. All three escaped serious injury.

Investigating officers determined weather was not a factor in the accident, and traffic was light at the time.  However the cause of the accident has not yet been determined and remains under investigation.

The name of the elderly man has not been released by the Coroner’s office at this time.
