BC’s Resident Physicians Ratify Four Year Deal
Prince George, BC – BC’s resident physicians have signed a four-year agreement with the provincial government consistent with the Liberal’s Cooperative Gains Mandate.
The retroactive agreement did not contain any wage increase for 2011 or 2012, but will see a 1.5-percent pay hike this January 1st and another 1.5-percent increase in April. It contract covers April 1st, 2010 to March 31st, 2014.
"This agreement provides for modest wage increases that fit within existing budgets, while protecting front-line services in our health facilities," says Finance Minister Michael de Jong.
Resident physicians are post-graduate physician trainees who have finished classroom education and are now working in healthcare facilities to fulfill their practical education needs.
