Nass Valley, B.C.-  It was a short ceremony, but one that has significant meaning.

Lisims Nass Valley RCMP  now  have the  Nisga’a flag  flying in front of their  detachment.

The detachment commander, Sgt. Donovan TAIT and NLG Chairperson of the Council of Elders Shirley Morven, proudly raised the flag yesterday.

"We have waited a long time for this opportunity" said Sgt. Donovan Tait "We are excited and proud to be able to show our respect for the Nation this way."

After a short blessing, Sigidim-nak’ Angaye’e commended Sgt. Tait and his staff for their ongoing commitment to fostering an effective and respectful relationship with the Nisga’a Nation.

Sgt. Tait and Sigidim-nak’ Angaye’e then proudly raised the flag together commemorating the ongoing relationship between the RCMP and the Nisga’a Nation.

This is the second Nass Valley RCMP-led event this year demonstrating their commitment to the inclusion and understanding of Nisga’a culture in their policing initiatives. The first event was centred on Nisga’a art.
