Hinting At Bell’s Replacement?
Prince George, BC – Just a few short hours before Prince George-Mackenzie MLA, Pat Bell, announced he would not be running in this spring’s election, some constituents in the riding were being asked to take part in a telephone survey that may have offered up a hint on Bell’s replacement.
In addition to some general demographic information on age and income categories, those contacted were asked if they were aware of the following individuals: Christy Clark, Adrian Dix, Pat Bell, Bobby Deepak, and Lyn Hall.
Bobby Deepak is the NDP candidate for the Prince George-Mackenzie riding in this May’s election. Lyn Hall is a Prince George City Councilor and, currently, the only individual mentioned in the survey who is not a declared candidate in the provincial campaign.
Respondents were also asked to rate their level of approval/disapproval with how well they felt each of the five were doing in representing the respondent’s concerns in their public positions.
The ‘live’ survey lasted approximately five minutes and also asked which party the respondent intended to vote for in the upcoming election and what he/she felt the main issues would be in the election.
The details on the selection of a new Liberal candidate for the riding, will be released in a couple of days.
Bell announced yesterday afternoon that he would not seek re-election as he is dealing with some health issues which will prevent him from putting all his energies and focus into the job. He has been diagnosed with having a rare form of aneurism, which will require monitoring for now, but possible surgery in the future.

Any dimbell is ok with me as we don’t need that kind of person in the NDP.
Exactly what do you mean by, “That kind of person”?

The rates a great big “huh”?
I will never vote NDP but I sure as hell won’t vote Liberal if Lyn Hall is the candidate.
The = This …. it’s early. :)
One would think that since John Rustad has never lived in the riding to the west he would be the best candidate for pg north and just transfer into this solid liberal riding. He is facing a loss with both the ndp and conservatives having candidates in his current riding.
First, Rustad lives in Vanderhoof and I certainly would not want him as a candidate for Prince George North to Mackenzie.
Second, I think there are a few good people that could do a good job for us and the NDP does not have any of them. I dislike the Liberals but have even less use for the socialist agenda of the NDP.
Since no one else was mentioned, it would seem that the survey was conducted for Lyn Hall.
I think he turned in a lot of the political chips he brought with him from the SD57 Board through his lack of strong performance on Council so far.
Then there is the fed Conservative wannabee who wants to be anywhere but in PG.
What is Don Zurowski doing these days
The current Lieberal government is the absolute most corrupt government BC has ever had the misfortune to have in power.
What I have witnessed and seen by Hall is he does not have time for the regular taxpayers in this city since he has been on council. What I have seen is catering to business and special interest groups. I know many that have tried to approach and talk with Hall – myself included and have been swept aside over and over. He did not get my vote as a councillor and will not be getting mine as an MLA.

Yeah, and Adrian Dix is squeaky clean isn’t he? Give your head a shake if you honestly believe that there is any politician from any political party who is not in it for themselves and their friends.
Don Zurowski, yeah, he will be good choice.
Crusty is just keeping the seat warm,I did not vote for her,she won a byelection in Scambells riding what does that say….who the lesser of 3 evils??
Nobody claimed that Adrian Dix was squeeky clean, the claim was that the current provincial government is the most corrupt ever. I don’t know if that is true, but putting words in then shooting it down is puerile at best, malicious at worst.
It should also be noted that Dix has admitted his behavior and made it clear he regrets it. In contrast, the Liberals have not apologised yet for BC Rail, Run-of river hydro or the HST fiasco. No, rather, they carry on going the same merry way treating the voters as if they think they are dummies. Compared to that mob, Dix is an angel.
“putting words in someone’s mouth, then” is what I meant. Sort of detracts from the flow, doesn’t it? :-}
“It should also be noted that Dix has admitted his behavior and made it clear he regrets it”
He regrets getting caught is about it. How many underhanded and possibly illegal activities has he not been caught doing?
I don’t know, axman. Why not tell us, since you are so quick to accuse him. Let’s have the truth brought out.
While you’re at it, why not give us a complete list of the things the Liberals have done that they are still trying to hide?
Dix should have been charged for faking that memo all those years ago but instead he’s poised to form the next government? That just speaks volumes as to how stupid Joe and Josephine Q Public are.
Politicians are in politics to line their pockets and the pockets of their friends. I’d willingly vote for the first joker who admits that running for office is all about them but as payment for our votes we’d get some better roads or some upgrades to our schools…
As for me, I’ll probably just skip voting now that Pat Bell is gone.
This is all to funny, liberals have been in power to long they are without a real vision for this province its all sell, sell sell, these jokers are not free enterprise and their not builders like WAC Bennett. We pay more for MSP, more for Hunting lience, more for parks, Boating lience, drivers lience the working man has been really getting the shaft along with seniors.
Mr Zurowski stated after the last election he ran in that he would never run for public office again.
“It should also be noted that Dix has admitted his behavior and made it clear he regrets it”
So, would you say that is like Gordo the Campbell and his misbehavin’ in Hawaii?
“Mr Zurowski stated after the last election he ran in that he would never run for public office again.”
Spoken like a true politician …. ;-)
To Gus: Yes, as I have said before.
Axman : “That just speaks volumes as to how stupid Joe and Josephine Q Public are.”
That’s your level of respect for voters, I take it.
“Politicians are in politics to line their pockets and the pockets of their friends.”
That appears to be true for our present Liberal government. I do not believe it is true for most others. I think most politicians really believe they can make a difference and try to do so, but can’t shift the inertia of society. There are many politicians who are not in it for personal gain, apart from earning a living, as we all must do.

This is by far the silliest thing I’ve ever read. Thanks for the laugh.

Zurowski seemed pretty sour at his defeat. I wouldn’t put it past him to change his mind.
It must be hell inside your head, Axman!
