Clark Comments on Klein’s Passing
Friday, March 29, 2013 @ 4:03 PM
Victoria, B.C.- One of Alberta’s favourite sons, Ralph Klein, has died. The former Premier passed away at a care home earlier today. He had been in failing health for the past couple of years.
Upon hearing the news of Klein’s passing, B.C. Premier Christy Clark issued the following statement:
"Canada has lost a great leader with the passing of Ralph Klein.
"Klein was one of Canada’s most passionate and colourful politicians. Legendary in Calgary for his approachability and forthrightness, he was one of the few politicians referred to by his first name alone. On a journey that took him from irascible reporter, to mayor, to Premier of Alberta, he was always his own man.
"He was a dedicated booster of his hometown, and a tireless defender of Alberta’s interests. To many, Ralph Klein was synonymous with the province of Alberta.
"My thoughts and prayers are with Colleen and his family."

Remembered him fondly as mayor of Calgary when I was living just north of the city.
Wow imagine that, you could become a Premier without a high school diploma. I wonder how many other politician’s are diploma less? Maybe one should investigate?
RIP Ralph
You lived through a worldwide recession. Oil prices dropped around the world, not just Alberta. If you know the math, then you are just being dishonest.
you will notice most of the comments have been removed.
The man died today and that’s the best you can say.. I am embarrassed for you

Ralph was one of a kind and I doubt we will ever see his likes again…at least not in our lifetime.
He will be missed.
Thanks for removing some of the comments Ben!
In my opinion, Ralph was one of the best premiers that our country has ever had. After all, more than anything, he was a man of the people and that’s why the people kept electing him, again and again. Ralph said what he would do if he was elected, and then he went and did it when he was elected.
Whether some agree with me or not, now and this venue is not the place to express those comments. Now is the time to show a little bit of respect for a man who devoted so much of his life to the people of his province. Very few of us can lay claim to doing and/or accomplishing as much as King Ralph did. So let’s give the man the respect that he deserves and more importantly the respect that he has earned!
Ralph Klein, you will be missed. Rest in Peace!!
A man who used a lot of common sense….
He told the truth…… People can’t handle the truth
Yeah, his straightforward style would not have played well to BC’s flaky and vindictive voters.
Ralph Klein was one of a kind….he did the best he could for his province..and the best he could, set a high standard for all who follow him in the role of Premier.
RIP Ralph Klein
