Prince George, B.C. – The BC NDP have released their full platform. (available by clicking here)
The fiscal plan to accompany the priorities calls for reallocation of some existing budgets, and new revenue measures. According to the NDP, the total for new spending would be: $311 million in 2013-14, $733 million for 2014-15 and $988 million for 2015-16, for a total of $2.032 billion.
The plan still calls for a deficit, but the NDP say the deficits do not exceed those proposed by the BC Liberals.

Not surprising that respecting working people, and promoting good Government gets the least attention.
Promoting good Government could go a long way to solving some serious problems in this Province.
Respecting workers (and their tax dollars) would be very much appreciated, however I’m not holding my breath.
While I appreciate the reallocation of “some exsiting budgets” Where are the “new revenue measures” going to come from? The BC governments could really use the strategies from Val Vaz Oxlade. Try a budget…
Dix (according to the news) is toying with the idea of selling off B.C. Place stadium to whoever comes up with the most money.
Isn’t that what happened to BCRail?
Amazing.
Selling BC Place might be tricky, as it would be nearly impossible to find a buyer, imo. It’s actually an NDP idea I support. They also want to sell the Convention Centre. Again, easier said than done.
Why would Dix sell BC Place ? Its full of government employees. That would contradict everything I have read on here about an NDP government.
Didn’t you know that it is part of reallocation of funds, that way the NDP can spend with the sale, for more security on the sky trains for the sleasy people that don’t pay, and then they can fine them. No No that won’t work, Dix already was caught doing that and he didn’t have to pay for no ticket and didn’t get fined either.
PG: “Didn’t you know that it is part of reallocation of funds, that way the NDP can spend with the sale, for more security on the sky trains for the sleasy people that don’t pay”
They won’t need to do that. The Skytrain is implementing a scanner/gate system in the fall which will all but eliminate the non-payers.
Seems when the NDP were in power the last couple times a lot of Corporations wouldn’t open up shop here, or closed shop and went to Alberta. So, they want to train new workers, that’s great.Where they gonna work.
Do I think they’ll increase welfare payments?
Yes I do.
Last time I worked under an NDP government they put me on the picket line. I think they wanted us to accept 0,0, and 1%, it was pretty low, so no respect there.
Will they support our resource economy by saying no to mining and drilling? Don’t know….
I’m trying to be open minded here but its sort of like a persons personality, ie: previous actions and future actions will be the same.
I’ll keep reading and listening.
Just heard they’re gonna spend a whole whack of taxpayers dollars on a judicial inquiry re: BC Rail. There’s already been a ton of money thrown down the drain on that, it’s so old, get over it, move on.
So far I’ve seen Adrian make some strange decisions.
But, I’ll keep listening and reading….
Increased spending and deficit budgeting do not get my vote.
Bang on! “I think they wanted us to accept 0,0, and 1%, it was pretty low, so no respect there.” I remember it. Worse yet we were ORDERED back to work by Clark’s government by binding arbitration! It isn’t only elephants who have good memory, some people have good memory too!
Seems that Dix wants to put everything on the block that they disagreed with: BC Place Stadium, Convention Centre, perhaps BCFerries and its brand new modern vessels as well…?
Selling off government property isn’t what socialists usually do, in fact they are known for nationalizing private industry.
A breath of fresh air….a platform from the NDP!! When do we get to read the platform from the Liberals/Greens/conservs??? All I have heard from CC is things will be better when the LNG plants come online…until then what?????????????
The libs are done, all they do is cut the other guy down with no real plan of their own. the facts are clear the buggers have screwed working people and made them pay while giving tax cuts to banks what the hell, give the 8oo miilion to health care , education, anything but banks. They say banks invest the money in the province??? really BS
Change For The Better. One tax (increase) at a time.
Sell Prince George. It couldn’t hurt.
Reducing Poverty and Inequality.
Anyone want to guess what this might be?
Once upon a time I was a card carrying member of the NDP before they went all goofy. I actually ripped up my card and walked out of an annual convention over this shit.
I can’t in good conscience vote for either the Libs or NDP but I will vote!
This move by the NDP is nothing more than pandering to the masses for votes.
Take a look south NDP. Obama did the same thing and it didn’t work out down there at all.
BC Rail inquiry; he gets my vote!
As the National Post puts it”Cristy Clarks campaign is to mislead, misinform and make stuff up”. I would suppose the making stuff up is just spreading more lies. Like the one where she claimed Chuck Strahl ( Conservative overseer of CSIS) was actively campaigning for her. Chuck had to actually speak out publicly and just say “NO!” YUP! When you have nothing positive to put forward it is so much easier to try and besmirch the opposition with American style attack ads and such.
Removal of the Alternate Approval Process legislation that allows municipalities to rob home owners for special interest group would get my vote.
I am not concerned to much about a planned spending increase of $2 billion over three years from an annual budget over $40 billion… so long as they can balance the books and see corporations paying more of their fair share.
At the end of the day the entire ndp platform somes in costing less than just the BC liberal smart meters cost. I think residents of BC get better value from the ndp platform than we got from BC liberal smart meters.
Just think if we could get the AAP removed from just one election, then how much grief it could save us in the future from greedy municipal politicians without an ounce of accountability for your home hostage tax dollars.
I put forward the argument that just this one item… removing the Alternate Approval Process would save more money to the average home owner than any promises made by either party in and after the next election.
That would show fiscal responsibility and government accountability to tax payers more than any 20-year gas revenue projections ever could.
THE BC liberals brought us economic mismanagement at epic proportions:
– A regressive carbon tax that targets northern homes and workers.
– An Alternate Approval Process that targets home owners as hostages to unaccountable taxation.
– A 100% over run on a billion dollar project to build a convention center and BC Place roof… the roof which has rarely ever been used and costs 1.5 times the cost of the fast ferries.
– A billion dollar bridge that can’t be used in winter conditions.
– An Olympic experience for the southern half of the province that was paid for by middle to lower income earners and never did materialize all the said benefits it was sold on.
– Selling the provincial railway that ensured we had competitive infrastructure for the North to get its product to market, thereby creating a monopoly that sees stock piling up in our mill yards threatening our resource industries.
– Election fraud that brought us a multi billion dollar regressive tax shift from corporations to middle income earners.
– Screwing up and robbing BC Hydro so we see the tax increase on our utility bills rather than through the government directly.
– Robbing ICBC to fund general revenue tax cuts to the top income earners.
– Huge pay raises for politicians when they campaigned against the idea.
– Corporate taxes lowered below what students pay for tuition or pensioners pay for MSP premiums.
– Privatizing the lucrative and profitable BC Liquor Distribution Branch to campaign friends of the party… and what ever else they could sell before loosing power.
These are the BC liberals policies and platform. Its a lot richer than any other party would have cost us.
I heard Christy Clark is a Mossad agent, sent over to destroy the economy. What else could it be, just ask eagle.
“A billion dollar bridge that can’t be used in winter conditions” ??
So what do are we doing in winter now with this bridge Eagleone ? Shutting it down and waiting for summer ???
Its nice to be able to have the privilege on forums like this to be able to bias one’s comments to suit his or her own agenda, (which fortunately quickly becomes glaringly obvious), but one must always keep in mind, those of us who take the time to read this stuff can form an opinion of the writer, as well as the credibility of the “comment”.
Credibility, and accountability often go hand in hand.
“Huge pay raises for politicians when they campaigned against the idea”
Have you forgotten the hoopla over Carol James and her gang accepting those pay raises too, after all the stink they raised before the fact when they could get maximum political mileage out of opposing it?
Be very careful what you wish for Eagleone!! You might discover you actually get it.
Christie Clark has clearly sold out her “family first” values to big business (i.e. the fossil fuel industry). I like the NDP’s focus on the fundamentals – a sustainable economy, education and health care.
“A billion dollar bridge that can’t be used in winter conditions”
I assume it is about the Port Mann bridge. They had a problem with icing up of support cables and it was fixed. After that it has been in use 24/7. What am I missing?
The NDP was against the building of the bridge. Perhaps Dix can sell it to some private corporation.
Lets see, that fireball Adrain Dix in the first 10 days of campaning has promised 2.5 billion dollars to various programs. Don’t know where he’ll get this money if not from raising taxes.
Maybe he scould start by returning with interest the $70,000 in severence pay that he got when fired for lying to police. That would be a start. I thought when you severed ties with parties you severed for good. But not the NDP along with their President MOE SAHOTA.
Say they are going to better look after seniors. How, I have not heard that.
Over the past 5-6 years I have been hurt finically more by our local money grabbing city councils that the liberals. It never ends with them and it’s keeps getting worse.
Why would Dix sell BC Place ? Its was a money loosing business from day 1 and one of the worst spending decisions of the BC Liberals. They spent 546 Mil on a retractable roof that didn’t work. I agree its time get rid of it!
Palomino, I’m sure you heard of the new Port Mann Bridge that opened only a few months ago? Yes it did have to close in winter conditions and they say they are working on a fix, but facts are no cable bridge anywhere with cables over the road part of the bridge has ever been safe in winter conditions… so it was all about style and little to do with function… ie bad political decision on a billion dollar project we will have to live with… next winter surely it will have to close again as well when the conditions are right.
Read up about it… educate yourself before you vote.
Bonniville… They have enough problems of their own I don’t think they need Christy Clark as well… nice try though.
For the record I don’t support the ndp… might not even vote at this point. I definitely do not support the BC liberals though as they will lie to get elected and that is beyond the pale for me… ditto for the conservatives as they support the Gateway Pipeline… that only leaves the ndp and the green, but I am free enterprise so it would be a hard sell to vote for either of them.
Like I said if they could promise to get rid of the Alternate Approval Process they could win my vote for an election… time will tell.

Not Quite. gordo said he wouldn’t sell BC Rail. Dix says he might sell BC Place. For whatever it’s worth Dix is being up front vs being a liar. Nice spin though prince george. Might your surname be Goebbels?
By the way I doubt he’d get much interest in BC Place. I like the sell Prince George
idea. Not you; the village.
Joeboy sez: “Might your surname be Goebbels?”
No. Your attempt to insult shows that I hit the nail on the head! The truth hurts.
As for Dix: how is forging a document and ducking a fare on a taxpayers owned transit system “being fair”?
Geez.
Joey boy “Dix is being up front vs being a liar.
He is a self admitted liar and to the police to hinder an investigation.Beat that.
If I can’t find my voter registration card I’ll just pick up a pill bottle in my biffy and present that.
NDP the against everything party.
