Time to Pitch In
Prince George, B.C. – The stage is being set for tomorrow’s big city wide clean up.
"We are expecting more participation this year than last" says Chris Bjorn, of the City of Prince George’s Solid Waste Services department. Bjorn says last year there was still snow on the ground through much of the City. This year, there is still snow on the ground in areas of the Hart, but Bjorn says overall there are plenty of areas that are open for clean up.
He says 43 groups have already officially registered promising participation of just under 1200 people.Groups have been given specific areas, and can leave the bags filled with litter at those areas for pick up by City crews. There are also drop off sites for those who want to take the litter bags to a central pick up area:
- Bunce Road and Park
- Hart Highway Plaza
- 3rd and Watrous
- 5th and Killoren
- Ospika and Andres
- College Heights Secondary School
- Hudson Bay Slough
Bjorn says the key factor for a good turn out is the weather. "Right now it looks like it will be much like it was Friday, kind of cool in the morning, maybe a shower." The annual clean up is set for 11-4 on Sunday.
Comments
Those people should be commended for their participation. They truly care for our environment and our city.
This type of participation makes Prince George a great place to live.
I agree. I just wish that there wasn’t so many pigs to make the mess in the first place.
Absolutely right JB. Try walking around school fields, especially in College Heights. There are many people who do not pick up after their dogs, but leave the dog droppings where kids play. YUCK !
If you see people running their dogs on school grounds report it to the school district. Dogs are not permitted on school grounds.
And yes people are pigs.
