Prince George, B.C. – It was a case of the early bird getting the worm, and the sunshine, as people connected with two organizations in the city put on garage sales today to raise funds for their respective causes.

The North Nechako Rotary Club was first off the mark, opening their sale outside Studio 2880 at 7 this morning under a bright, mostly sunny sky. The Rotarians are raising money for the operation of the Salvation Army’s Mobile Crisis Response Unit, a vehicle that is used throughout the region for support services for major accidents and emergency situations. The garage sale is running from 7 am to 4 pm both days this weekend.

It certainly didn’t take long for the sunshine to vanish, replaced by cloudy skies and a brisk wind that had some folks at the Spruce City Fastball Stadium zipping up their jackets and hanging onto their hats. However, a little bit of less than ideal weather wasn’t about to put a damper on the effort to raise money for May’s Canadian Cancer Society Relay For Life. Six teams which are entered in the Relay set up tables at the stadium and loaded them up with items for sale, everything from clothing to kitchen appliances, television sets to furniture.

That sale is running until 3 this afternoon.
