Prince George, B.C. – Emergency officials in the north-central region of the province are advising the public to steer clear of any downed power lines that they may come across.

Hydro lines have been brought down in several areas by trees which have been blown over by the strong winds associated with a storm that blew through the region this morning. Here in Prince George police and fire crews were dispatched to secure the area along 15th Avenue between Gorse and Hemlock Streets after a tree brought down a power line. Two similar occurrences were reported on Otway Road.

But the advice is to stay completely away from downed lines as they are not confirmed to be de-energized until Hydro crews attend the scene.

Darwin will sort them out.

Children don’t always know what to do. A powerline fell on top of a car a young girl was sitting in and when she got out and touched the ground she was electrocuted. This tragic accident occured in PG in the 60’s.
