Gun Show ‘Draws’ A Crowd
Crowd takes stock of the latest in guns, knives, archery supplies, and outdoor sporting goods at the Coliseum
Prince George, BC – Interest in target shooting, archery, and hunting seems to be mounting, judging by the growing number of new reality tv shows hitting the airwaves…
But local interest in these activities has always been high, says Don Reeves, an Executive Member of the Prince George Rod and Gun Club.
Since its inception in 1946, the club has grown to 700 members and, Reeves points out, another 14 people just took out memberships today – day one of a two-day exhibition on at the Prince George Coliseum. The event features 78 vendors from across the province and Alberta, up from 48 last year.
Something that is new to the club this year is called cowboy action – where participants appear to have walked straight out of a spaghetti western and onto the range on Hartman Road.
"You shoot the sidearms of the era, shotguns, and rifles. And that’s growing like hotcakes all over the country," says Reeves. "It’s a big sport right now, it’s a lot of fun. The ladies dress up, the men dress up in traditional clothing from the era."
The local club also has a very active contingent of black powder shooters, who shoot muskets. Reeves, himself, is one of six silhouette shooters and will be travelling to provincials in Cranbrook and nationals in Prince Albert, Saskatchewan later this year.
This weekend’s gun, knife, archery, and outdoor sporting goods show is the club’s major fundraiser of the year. It’s on until 5pm this evening and from 9am until 3pm tomorrow. Admission is $5.

Which shows are those?
Any given day on an American news program (unfortunately)

No protesters?
Canada versus America. We have very good gun laws and a good general respect for the laws, so far, but who knows of the future.
I have been to most of the local gun shows as well as a few out of town and I must say Prince George’s is equal to all of them over the years.
What I have noticed recently is the increase in what I call “gang guns” and I don’t see what they have to do with hunting and organized target shooting.
As an avid outdoorsman I don’t see the practiblity of such firearms in our society and what there purpose is but it is called a gun show so be what it is. I don’t spend much time at those booths.
All in all I thought it was a good show on Sat. but that is just my thoughts
Have a safe weekend all.
Whats a gang gun?
“Gang Guns”
What are gang guns? Please describe. Be sure to use correct descriptions so everyone that knows something about firearms will know what you are talking about.
good question…gang guns? I see the pics of the firearms confiscated in the drug busts etc. and they don’t look a whole lot different than what you might find in any law abiding Canadians gun safe.
I know I would feel much safer right now with a loaded shot gun. Lots can happen while cops are on the way.
Some dude with a pipe wouldn’t be getting away with doing it twice right now. I wouldn’t of had a room mate shank me in the face would I, with a loaded gun in my hands. Especially if that person is psychotic.
I think we are becoming a very dangerous society here in Prince George and I bet I can justify having one right here in my bedroom.
I would like some debate on this issue without Opinion250 deleting everything this I type out.
I saw some 1700 flintlock assault rifles, some 1860,1875 Percussion and Cartridge assault rifles, As well as Bolt action assault rifles from WW1,WW2, All now are considered Sporting, Hunting Rifles. Are these the GANG GUNS your taking about.
I can’t believe it’s 23 degrees out right now. Strange, beautiful and wonderful!
Something like this, you mean Donald Mackenzie? http://s1.hubimg.com/u/4092764_f260.jpg
Just a shot gun would be nice. http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_PusH5R8ruCs/TTUjLHjv3FI/AAAAAAAAAGU/RFFJF23S7C4/s1600/1897_pump_shotgun.jpg
Look at this one, I like this.

That 380 is prohibited in Canada. The barrel is only 2.75″.
Thing is though, not many can have any gun. If you want one you have to ask around to get one illegally. There has to be a way where a group of people can go learn and practice how to use firearms.
Start a group that doesn’t allow cops or gangsters.
Lol Cannabis you are living in the wrong country! Move to the US where in Colorado they have legalized pot and anyone can own a gun.
Yes Pg is very dangerous pro cannabis but I think you have a better chance of being taken out by someone who is on their phone while driving than a gangster after your stash.
Gang gun? good grief.
as far as not seeing the practibility of such machines, maybe a lot of people dont see the usefulness of a lot of items.
when i was younger i had some ‘ooo scary looking’ weapons. they were as useful as bear bulls on a butterfly for hunting or whatnot, but they were a whole lot of fun for just going to the bush and killing lots of cans and milk jugs.
got rid of them when the new laws came into place, too much bullpoop to just move the things.
What is ProCannabis doing, or what kinds of people does he deal with so that he feels he needs a shotgun for self protection? I guess buying your product from the local gangsters would make one feel this way.
I don’t by weed from gangsters, why you say things that you know nothing about? Are you that stupid or what? I don’t have to explain to the likes of you JB.
Some people are paranoid JB and they have linked pot use with that type
of behaviour. Hopefully Pro didn’t start too young.

Guns as a hobby great! Guns as protection…. Not so great.
Procannabis makes marijuana users look bad.
It’s weird because he seems to have a whole bunch of problems with people. Getting hit with pipes and people always harassing him.
I don’t seem to have any problems with people, but then again I don’t put myself in those sutuations
Pro: “I don’t by weed from gangsters, why you say things that you know nothing about? Are you that stupid or what? I don’t have to explain to the likes of you JB.”
It is quite amazing that everyone who smokes dope says they don’t support the local drug trade and the gangstas.
F….. right off you right wing nuts.
Touched a nerve, did I? ;-)
No just shows how stupid you are.
ProCannabis with that temper I wouldn’t want you to own a fire arm!
So you think it’s okay for someone to show up and pipe ya because some junkie crack dealer said you did something when you didn’t eh!
I’m just glad Crown has the smarts to figure things out. The RCMP sure as hell don’t. They have hindered this community big time with their no brain approach.
“No just shows how stupid you are.”
Coming from a dope smoker, that’s a compliment!
What did he say you did. Why does he dislike you so much
So I need to explain myself to you now, is that it! F….. you guys are psychotic aren’t ya’s!
It was a great show. Real sorry to hear Gunner from Aarmco is ill. Wish you well Gunner, not the same without you.
Good to see the Sapergia boys work`ìn it.
AND, will you other posters quit sniping at each other, give us all a break!
Carp: “What did he say you did. Why does he dislike you so much”
Who knows…habitual dope smokers sometimes suffer from paranoia.
That wasn’t the case. I wish you would stop assuming things.
Are you guys on here to start trouble or are you here to help change the world a bit to makes things safer for everyone? Which is it?Under the Criminal code we got a right to protect ourselves as long as it is within reason. If I had a gun and used it, I would be charged. However under the criminal code I still have a right to protect myself, do you understand!

Yikes ! PC….we are not your psychologist, we are just here to question your logic and irrational posts. I smoked one and tried to relate to your posts but I must have some different stuff. Mine is a good yard cleaning buzz.
I’m trying to state a point. The RCMP haven’t been much good for me in recent years trying to war off bad people. I have had to bring my court cases to social media to get things done. I also stated that if it wasn’t for the quick thinking of Crown I would be locked up for a long time, with no help from the boys in blue. I don’t think wanting to arm myself with a gun is a bizarre or unorthodox thing at all.
Since when is it wrong to protect oneself in this country? Are you saying that RCMP should do it? If you are then how come they do such a poor job. What I find of this site is that there is a lot of pro RCMP and the BC RCMP are in a lot of hot water in recent years. I am stating some of the wrongs that they do. If you don’t like what I say fine, but don’t try and make me out to be some crazy man for wanting my human rights!
I don’t care I’ll argue with you all night, I don’t care. I got a right to be secure and safe in this country whether you like what I have to say or not!
Tired of playing f…… games with you people on this site. I can see why Mayor Green won’t talk to Opinion250. I don’t like the lady, but I can see why she won’t speak to this site. You people don’t want open debate. You want to cut each others throats.
PC. You are the most negligent poster i have seen on opinion250 in 8 years. With a name like pro canibis arguing about fire arms use and the criminal code really puts you under the microscope.
So I got a right to speak my mind. Do I need to remind you of my right to free speech, or that doesn’t count anymore. Another thing why would I care if it puts me under a microscope. I got a right to speak about fire arms, you don’t like it, don’t read my shit then.
Stay the f…. out my face then.
Northman, you trying to intimidate me!
It’s because of posters like PC that I feel the need for protection now. The paranoia is a fact PC. Did you even go read the page I linked?
I’m guessing when we read the headlines PC falls into the “known to police” category.
“You people don’t want open debate”
Looks like we are debating to me but you don’t like the topic.
“You want to cut each others throats”.
You’re the one that wants a gun. Well go get one then! Or is the problem that you can’t get one legally?
I don’t need a gun to protect myself but I do have them locked up in a safe so no gangsta can get to them.
I don’t f….. care what you or these other idiots think or say. I already know opinion250 is full of right wing dicks that don’t want change and suck Harpers boots at every chance they get. NDP haters and people that feel the need to kick others on this site. I got 0% respect for any of ya and you can take that to the RCMP chump!
are you related to Crislivingdowntown?
Who is that? Is that your bum buddy!
Are you sure you are not a child sitting in yer parents basement bub!
I thought dope smokers were mellow.
Lol PC you are so freaking funny. First you want a debate and then you don’t care what anyone says.
Well don’t care about this! The reason they call it dope is it make you dopey. Fried = frying your brain!
Thank goodness people have to get a PAL before they can buy a gun! Well honest people that is.
“There has to be a way where a group of people can go learn and practice how to use firearms.”
There is, it is called the Prince George Rod and Gun Club.
