PG Fire Rescue Kept Busy This Weekend
Prince George, BC – The dry grass and hot sun are making for a busy weekend for Prince George Fire Rescue…
Assistant Fire Chief, John Long, says there were fortunately no injuries and no damage caused by today’s grassfire in the Peden Hill neighbourhood. While Long cannot confirm a witness report that the brush fire may have been caused by a youngster, he does say the case has been referred to the department’s Fire Prevention branch, which often means age-appropriate education is offered up on fire safety.
In addition, Long says crews were called out to assist with two grassfires that started along the rail line on PG Pulpmill Road. Mill crews were on-hand for one, while CN rail crews were extinguishing another, but PG Fire Rescue just helped ensure any and all hotspots had been doused.
Another instance involved a yard burning that got away from a resident on Cowart Road. Long is reminding all city residents that there is a ban on open burning in the City of Prince George. Only small recreational fires in a permanent outdoor fireplace, bbq or firepit are allowed. For more information, click here.
