Clark Promises to Work For All British Columbians

Tuesday, May 14, 2013 @ 11:15 PM
Prince George, B.C.- An elated Christie Clark started her victory speech thanking all the candidates in all the ridings regardless of political stripe,  “for putting their names forward and having the guts to make our democracy better.”

She also thanked all the volunteers who “made the mechanics of our democracy work” and  “the citizens of British Columbia who took the time to vote.”

She also thanked her fellow party leaders for working so tirelessly, during the campaign and of course her team.

“So tonight, we have received a mandate from the people of British Columbia.    And I say to the people of British Columbia, you have humbled us”. She said the Liberal Government “will honour what you have bestowed on us….. together we will make British Columbia better.”

She said for those who did not vote for the Liberals, “We will work hard for you”.

She reiterated her platform to make B.C. debt free. “British Columbia has never been stronger, and our future has never been brighter.”

The liberals were smart to choose someone closer to the center of the political spectrum to replace Gordon Campbell. If Kevin Falcon had beat Cristy for the leadership tonight’s outcome might have been a lot closer.

Wish her all the best in the coming four years.

Awesome job… and congrats to all the local candidates. Well done!

What a night! Turned on the TV to watch the returns looking through my hands expecting a horror movie of sorts. Boy was I surprised got the feel good story of the year instead:)

A very very good victory speech from Christy Clark! Well said Christy! Congratulations!

The Liberal Party has had it’s challenges and it’s screw ups in the not too distant past. Let’s not forget those screw ups. Instead let’s use them to remind us to do better as we celebrate this strong mandate from the people of our province!

What a night!

I think Christy is one hell of a woman. I think people from outside and maybe even more from the inside did not give her the credit she deserves for getting rid of some of the right wing mindset that was present when Campbell left the party. He was not very kind in the timing he chose.

In my mind it was almost a miracle that Christy was able to turn the party around to a mindset that brought it closer to the centre where the battle is being fought almost everywhere these days.

The new BCLiberals are growing into a kinder, gentler party, the kind I was hoping would eventually rise from the ashes left by those who took it over more than a decade ago.

Congratulations to all. I am sorry I had to be away for this joyful time.

I was asked today by an American (as in a citizen of the USA) how Canadians define a liberal.

Seems strange that the BCLiberals have not been liberals for some time now, but that Liberal party members throughout the rest of Canada are still more or less true to the philosophy of liberalism.

Interesting that the USA has liberal and conservative parties but do not go by those names.

Instead they have Republicans (as if those who live in the USA are not automatically republicans since they all live in a republic) and Democrats (as if all USA citizens do not live in a democratic, republic).

It is often strange the words we use.

Well, that’s her job isn’t it?

acrider….you are simply a …SORE LOSER

Way to go Christy….here come the increased skills training, the jobs, and the bouyant economy…..

Excuse me?

yaaaaa more chinese labor taking British Columbian jobs!!!! HELL YA!!!!

Did you lose out on one of those jobs unlisted? Nobody did because nobody wanted to go and work in a coal mine. The majority of BCs unemployment isn’t because there are no jobs available. It’s because they aren’t mining for coal in Surrey and Tumbler ridge is too far from the beloved lower mainland. Not enough British Columbians want to leave the lower mainland to move north or work in a camp job. There are plenty of jobs in the north for the trade sector but there are a lot of whiners who won’t do them. Hence, imported labor.

who told you that fourstrings? there were 300 applicants for those jobs. A friend of mine was told he did not have the qualifications to be a labour there as he had no experience in underground mines…………..So if you need to spew your BS about people not wanting to work you might want to do some research so you don’t sound ignorant.

Believe me, I understand where your coming from Unlisted,But Fourstring make sense!
